Marijuana was originally a Mexican slang term. The reefer madness crew thought it would be easier to scare the public if they associated it with Mexicans. They thought cannabis was to "happy" of a word so they started calling it marihuana. Dank
People say that shit down here too. It's annoying as fuck. To me, good weed will always be "dank". I sometimes say "diggity" as a slang-term for dank though. lol I even have a slang-term for "slang", which is "slanguage".

In my neck-of-the-woods, when someone says dope, it's almost always a tweaker/geeker referring to meth/ice.
my friends and i only call weed "a salad" if it's three or more types of bud mixed together in the same bowl.
