Alright this is a rather specific question, and I'm not sure if anyone even has experience with this.

I am currently on the Pill (Microgynon30). It's a combined oral contraceptive, so all 21 pills are exactly the same and you take a 7 day break after each pack. Usually my breasts grow remarkably after around 10 days of taking the pill. During the break they go back to their normal size again.

Now my boyfriend is going to visit exactly when I'm having the break, so Im currently informing myself about taking 2 packs back to back (skipping the artifical period).

The question that I'm sure my Gyn won't be able to answer me about this is the following:

Would taking 2 packs back to back could make me "lose the ability" to experience a bit of breast growth during the next time i take the pill? I was wondering this because skipping the break would definitely confuse my cycle and hormone levels and maybe the pill wouldn't have the same effect on my body anymore?

I'm aware it's a weird question! Thanks for any help

Women have been doing just that to avoid a period now and again for decades.

While nothing is fully safe, there isn't a lot in research about this, and lots of anecdotal evidence that says it is usually benign for a month or two.

I do know some athletes will keep on the pills without breaks for seasons, and I can't remember the source, but there is some empirical evidence/ research on iron levels related to that.

HRT combination therapy (estrogen and progestin) doesn't take breaks, so a month of back to back pills likely won't be a huge problem.

I'm unsure about breast growth because these types of things vary from person to person.
Whilst every form of medication is never 100% fool proof and safe I ran up to 3 packs of Micro back to back numerous times in my late teens and early twenties.

If you are worried, I'd consult your local family planning unit.

thanks for the answers so far.

@Faelixx: I am generally very self-conscious about my breasts, my boyfriend keeps telling me that he loves them. He is the most loving person I have met and he hates that I am worrying so much about it. But I just cant let it go, it makes me feel ugly.

As the posters above say it doesn't seem to have any major side effects to skip the break once, and since I see my boyfriend only every few months I really am grateful that science allows me to control my period that way. I don't mind doing it.

Gonna ask my doc next week again to be sure.
