This is one of my attempts to get my drawing skills back. It was drawn in an open life drawing session at my old school early this spring. The likeness isn't quite there, but the drawing itself is kind of nice. Too bad I drew it on an old piece of creased newsprint. I like to remember the names of the people who model, butmI can't quite remember this guy's name. I think it was Jim.

MamaPeace, This is how I answered that question in the thread about my Prismacolor portrait. I'm too lazy to rewrite it, so I'm am pasting it here.

    Sanguine,
This might help. It's a direct link to my drawing. I hope it works. By the way, I just love the way I drew over the crease instead of turning my paper to a smooth area. I know it was just practice, and I hadn't drawn for over ten years, but you would think I would at least start on a decent sheet of paper JUSTin case I did something decent. Oh well. What can ya do, right?

I love seeing a great piece of work on a grimey piece of paper or canvas.

One of my old sketchbooks survived a house fire and it's all charred and soot covered now, but I actually think it adds to the look.

It just goes to show you that you don't need all the best tools to create a good piece of artwork.

Great sketch btw. I'm also one for doing sketchy portraits.

Thanks Sanguine. I would love to see your sketchbooks sometime. I have a new one started. Actually, it's an old one that I picked up again which I hadn't gotten too far in. Anyhow, I understand about the soot and char adding character to your book. By the time I finish with this one, it will look like my other books. The cover will be dirt and beat up, and the spine will actually come off. It takes me a long time to fill a book.

Same here man. I'm such a procrastinator with my work. I'm trying to get a more current portfolio together. I'll have to post it here.
