Here's a fun thought experiment: Say you had a space/time machine. A machine you could enter spatial (GPS let's say) coordinates on as well as a date in time and this machine would take you back to that place time. An example might be (though one might need stellar coordinates or something for this) the Moon landing on July 21, 1969. So, where/when would you set your time machine to? i have a huge number of answers, many of them joyous and many historical. But, though i suspect i would not be able to make a meaningful intervention and would just die trying, i'd set mine for the date/time of the death of my mother/grandmother via a horrible/ugly vehicular accident.
There are so many things I'd like to see - I would love to visit some ancient civilizations at the height of their glory. I'd like to visit the Palestine area during the time that Neanderthals and modern humans inhabited it simultaneously (as evidence shows actually happened). I'd like to go back and witness some events in the life of Jesus...I suppose I would need to learn Aramaic first, so I could understand what people were saying...though I suppose if he wanted he could speak to me telepathically, couldn't he?
