Me - Go to more school? Nope! Get a job? Nope! Get self-employed? Nope! Lets just say the world won't let me succeed in any of that but stay collecting SSI due to a labeled disability. So I came up w/ getting w/ entertainment by pitching a show idea unofficially called "America Has Got Jokes!," where americans send in videos cracking "ORIGINAL" spoken funny clean jokes just for 15 minutes of fame. They don't win any prizes either. Simple show idea. How does this sound? All I need is an entertainment lawyer. I suggest everyone come up w/ an original idea for some kind of show if all else has failed.
I can't think of any ideas. I commend you for coming up with that idea in spite of not being able to obtain a job, go back to school or become self employed. A lot of people would not keep trying.
That seems like a good idea. However in the realm of youtube videos, how you gonna monetize it? I suppose if it gets noticed by enough ppl you will get ad fees. Hey maybe you can get a show like "Right Now" where they show all sorts of videos on TV. Anything is possible if you really dedicate yourself to it! Good luck.
If you are getting SSI but want to work, you should be able to get some vocational assistance from the state. I think you can get a variety of services, like training, mentoring, even some start-up capital for a business. They want people who can tranistion from SSI to work to do so, so they have a motive to help you succeed. Your idea might work but might not. I recommend that you talk to a business mentor and make a good business plan that takes into account your skills, your disability, and the marketplace. Good luck!
my sister is an entertainment lawyer....five hundred an hour just to sit down and pitch.....first visit is always cash
This is the most important part of any business. Some really great ideas have failed because of a poor plan. A lot of people have great ideas that they never try because they think getting the money is the main obstacle. Incorrect. If you have a solid plan, people will throw money at you. Doesn't even matter if the plan requires $100 million. If you have the right plan....the money will show up.
I suppose if you have bad credit or a terrible business track record...people may not line up to support you. But as a general rule.....people love a winner. If you have a winner, people want to be a part of it.
If they even know about it... Not everybody has the ability to get a plan or idea in front of those with money no matter how good the idea or how well the plan is made. There's also instances of that idea being stolen by those with money. Not everybody gets a fair shake on this planet... Good for those that do, sucks for those that don't
That's true. Good point. And I should say that writing a business plan is not as easy as just crunching a few numbers. It can be a long and complicated process.
that sounds like a terrible show. therefore, i have to assume it will air for at least 12 seasons on one of the major networks.
Maybe if you worked on the idea, you could try crowdfunding the project. As well as Kickstarter there are a few crowdfunding sites you could check out.
I agree with everything u just said. Especially this Unfortunate, but so true .. Look at Nikola Tesla .. He had a lot of great ideas but other people got the credit for most of them cuz they had lots of money and knew his ideas were great but all they were really thinking about is themselves and how they can get richer with his ideas.
