Gold is pretty, and on the right people it looks good. I just ain't the right people. I put it on and I feel like my skin changes to yellowy lol silver feels more cooling, more relaxed. And sometimes when looking at "interesting" jewelry, I find that the funkier pieces are silver, not gold. Hmmm...
i dont like gold....if i had to chose i go for silver...though I dont like to wear that kind of jewelry (hemp and beads are much cooler!)
Silver all the way! I imagine I'd like white gold and platinum too but I would never spend/let someone spend so much money on just a piece of jewellery...
Silver it is. I used to wear gold, but hardly ever now. In fact I've been slowly giving away what I had. My wedding ring is platinum - I love the soft shine it has as it wears.
I voted gold, but I was speaking of white gold. I have an allergy where I can only wear gold jewelry, so I prefer the white gold. (Can't afford platinum, LOL!)
I'm a silver girl. I don't really like gold jewelery. I think a lot of times that it looks fake. I like the silver tone a lot better against my skin. I only have a few pieces of gold jewelery, and that is stuff my mom gave me a long time ago. My engagement ring is white gold. I agree with the person earlier who said that most silver jewelery is usually funkier... Most gold stuff that you see is always "classic" styles. I feel sorry for my sister because she is allergic to almost any metal. She normally wears only plastic stuff... Nickel free stuff, sterling silver, gold, I gave her a platinum plated bracelet for Christmas and she is even allergic to that... I don't think she's tried titanium though, maybe that will work, though I'm sure it's probably expensive. I don't know what she will do when she gets married and will want to wear a ring 24/7.
I prefer silver, although I've been told I look better in gold. Must just be my skin color I guess. My poor boyfriend didn't realize that though and got me a gold necklace for my birthday. I still wore it every day until the chain broke, so I need to go and get a new chain. I still mix alot of silver and gold- on one hand my class ring is silver and on the other, my heirloom ring (given to the 1st born girl in my family on her 16th bday for 4 generations) is gold. I want a white gold wedding ring, or platinum but I don't really care.
I love sterling silver. All my jewelry is sterling silver. Seriously, when/if I get married, I just want a sterling silver ring with maybe a purple stone in the middle (purple is my favourite colour). I've got one of those "Slave Chain" bracelets on (I hate calling it that title, but then people don't know what I'm talking about if I try to explain); it's all silver with purple and black beads. It's so great. I love jewelry...
I definately prefer silver to gold any day. My mom still insists that I will out grow the silver phase and shes been saying that since I was young child.
this post is a perfect example of why we need to either: 1. Ditch the women's issues forum 2. Add a mens issues forum Jewelry is freaking stupid... what a waste of money... Did you know that the Zales corporation owns 99% of the worlds diamonds, and is only releasing them in very small portions to keep the price skyrocketed high... if they were all on the market they'd be worth close to shit. Besides, they already can make counterfit diamonds that are almost exactly the same. Im getting my bitch one of those rings from a toy machine. The Womens Issue forum, a place to discuss your bleeding vagina and jewelry (because those are things men cant help w/) Fight the man. Dont buy jewelry... don't support slave labor used to get silver and gold and diamonds.
oh my god...I can only imagine the look on you 'bitches' face. lol. and you can always tell fake just by looking at it. I like the way yellow gold looks with my birthstone they complement each other really well. I like white gold and platinum for anything else. I've had most of the stones in things taken out of their setting and put into white gold.
AS if women haven't been ornamenting themselves since the beginning of time. Why would a man understand that? And I'm glad I'm not some man's bitch! Like we are a dog to own!
I do like silver (and silver-coloured, since I usually can't afford real silver, heh) better... clashes with fewer colours. Looks better with my skintone and I think it looks better with black as well. oh, and Mui, that whole slave labour argument.... most of us weren't talking about diamonds, and there are ethical diamonds out there (I have a friend who works in a very small jewelry store - they track where their diamonds come from and get reports on conditions and stuff. They also try to not destroy the environment they're mining from, which you didn't mention. )
Men were ornamenting themselves too.... just look at the headresses, necklackes, armbands, legbands, rights, bracelets etc. Egyptian pharoahs wore, and all the upper class in Egypt did too Heck, they probably spent more on jewelry than chicks did at the time.
yes plz go spend 40,000 dollars on a necklace while most of the world starves, that is like, so cool and hip. either that or you could fuck some rich guy and have him give you a bunch of jewelry, i hear thats the cool thing for gold diggers nowndays to do. gold and silver are just worthless minerals. and you cant tell the difference between a real/fake diamond by looking at it anymore... brilliant men have perfected fake diamonds, even scratch tests wont work nowndays... but still you damn women will want the real shit, because it costs 500,000 dollars more.
