Did you/ are you going to register for the draft?

If you don't, supposedly you are subject to a fine of $250000 and/or five years in jail, but if you do you become an easily trackable item for the government's use in any way, at any time. Even if you don't agree to why you are being drafted they still force you to work in a job THEY see fit for you.

As of right now, it looks like I'm gonna risk the fine. If the government comes for me, I'm leaving for good and not turning back. I really don't like where things are headed at the moment, something big is coming right around the next bend.

Fuck the draft and fuck the government. If they come for me I'm going to Canada and will give them a little taste of my delicious middle finger as i leave.

For those who think signing up for the draft or these stupid wars is the right thing to do, or the government cares for you, think again. You're just cannon fodder.

It is estimated that 300,000 plus veterans ended up homeless in 2006, with more yet to come.

I live in Windsor Canada, but was born and raised in Detroit Michigan. The U.S. government has been sending me mail left and right, trying to recruit me, trying to bribe me with free movie tickets, and telling me I have to register for the draft.

    I turn 18 Jan 29th.

Unless its been within the last month or so, nobody has been arrested for resisting the draft since the 80s. Whenever they arrested someone, registration in that area would actually drop. Mainly they use other things to scare you out of resisting. For instance, you can't get financial aid amongst other things.

If you are just trying to avoid, and not to make a statement, remember that you can register anytime up untill your 26, and that the draft starts at age 20 and works its way up now. So wait a few years, and your chances of getting enlisted are slim to none.

Oh yeah, I should probably state this. Check your state's laws, many of them have snuck registration into the form for getting a driver's license. Be careful.

Has bush instituted a draft? 'cause the dems are more then likely gonna win the white house after bush's reign of terror, and I doubt they will, and if bush was going to he would have before the last year of his term.

Why? He can do it, and then easily step aside to let someone else handle the damage. Haven't you ever been on a job and seen someone who is no longer going to be working there in the next couple weeks? They tend to act up knowing that their actions really won't have reprocussions.

This is a president though. Doesn't he need congress's aproval anyway?
If he does this, the next one will be withdrawling troops anyway, so it wont matter a ton. It wont be a huge thing like the 60's, it'll be a joke and a huge abuse of power.

Just register. I'm registered. There will be no draft. The people who would support the draft would be the ones who approve of Bush. The 30something % of the country. It would never work.

why "Just Register"? Why just give in? You're pretty much saying, "Don't worry about it, just give in, do what the government does. Don't worry, they won't bring back the draft, trust the government"... what a load of BS. Why risk it? Why give in?
If there's not going to be a draft, why do men need to register? I'm glad my man isn't. I say if they ever do bring it back, everyone go to Canada or Amsterdam and we'll all smoke while the government takes over.

I'm not sure what has given you the idea that you have to support the draft to be drafted.

And in the case of a draft, I doubt I'm fleeing. Kind of seems like giving up. I'll stay and help them keep their prisons full.

Just register people, Jesus. There's not gonna be any draft minus war with China and it really doesn't matter, the point of the selective service program is in case there's a draft to have things ready. They already have your SSN, birth certificate, place of residence, and ect already on file and anyways everything aside from SSN are normally public records anyways. If there was a draft they're going to find you pretty easily either way.

Besides, look at the bright side, we just have to register for the program that will control the draft IF there is one, compared to even alot of countries in Europe where there actually is one. Really what need does Norway, Germany, Sweden and such really have for a draft.

in case there's a draft? To be prepared for a draft? The point is, the draft is wrong, so who cares if they need you to register. As long as they require registration, it means that there still is a chance of a draft. There is no reason to ever have a draft; forcing people to fight is wrong. If the government's fight is so right, then enough people would willingly join that they wouldn't need a draft... but they do, don't they? They need to force us to fight their dirty wars.
There is no reason for them to require men to register, and no reason anyone should ever be forced to fight. End of story.

I'm not worried about a draft in Iraq, but farther in the future. Bush isn't stupid enough to start another conflict this soon before leaving office, and no one wants war right now. People will blame him and only him for starting the Iraq war, but if you remember right, the majority of people in America were convinced Iraq had weapons of mass destruction and felt that removing Saddam was necessary.

But anyway, I don't want to even be involved in the process of registering for the draft. Within 15 years I am sure that there will be a large war involving some of the world's most powerful nations. This war will most likely require the US to institute a draft so as to keep up with countries such as China, India, or some other large coalitions of countries. If the draft starts and I am drafted, I will NOT fight for America no matter what happens.

I still haven't registered and I'm still on the fence about it. My parents told me about people doing the same thing in the era of the Vietnam war and government officials came in and forced the people to serve. Also, being the only male in my family to carry on the name I believe I am ineligible to fight but the government would probably try to put me to use in another job that doesn't involve being shot at.

The only time I'll fight for my country is when the enemy is in my back yard.

Well, depending on who the enemy is, they might already be in your back yard.

Look at everything this president has done WITHOUT the approval of Congress. What makes you think this would be any different? When you are living under a de facto dictatorship, as we are in the US, it doesn't matter what the people or Congress wants. Besides, Congress is in on it, too, as they have largely voted for every fascistic bill and piece of police state legislation put forward. We are entering dark times, and these will be times when you will won't have any rights. We are fast approaching a totalitarian system of government, and you will be made to do whatever it is they tell you to. It's time people wake up to what's really going on. Whether you have signed up for the draft or not, it won't matter because things are going to turn very sour, very soon.
