I'm moving out into the country, and my neighbors have like 3 or 4 cows. It's been raining a lot lately. I've heard that shrooms grow on cow shit, but I'm not sure how much of that is truth or just ignorance. Would it be worth checking out the patties, or just a waste of time? I live in northern Virginia, and the temperatures have been ranging from 60 to 80 recently.
Yes, go huntin my dood....id be out everyday lookin if i lived near cows and its hot and rainy good luck.
yeah go look! but i suggest getting a guide for the kinds of mushrooms that grow where you live because you could get the wrong kind and die or something.
Why would you not go look! Nothing sounds better than free mushrooms plus it's peaceful to be walking around in the open like that. Just be sure of what you pick.
yep, they grow on cow and horse poo. BUT! Picking mushrooms that you dont know can be dangerous. They COULD KILL you.. thats a pretty big deal.. lol I suggest, picking some you find, come back home, and look them up on the net. OR Find Mushrooms that Grow in my Area ^^Good place to start - check that out, its got a list of all pshycedelic mushrooms that grow in all the states. that and rent a book from the library on mushroom species. oh, and might i ask where you are moving too?
Are you sure about them growing on horse poop? I had always passed off the cow poop thing as a myth, but then I once read somewhere that they grow on cow poop because of something to do with the cow having 7 stomachs and them eating spores while they're eating grass.
if the animal (cows, horses, etc.) are fed feed purchased from a feed store they will not produce shrooms in there shit. for almost the last twenty years all feed has been treated with a fungicide.. also,im not real sure how accurate this tid bit is but i was once told that strictly grass fed animals will not produce shrooms either..they must be grain fed minus the fungicide. once again i cannot verify the second statement, but the first i KNOW to be factual.
yes, and apparently alot of people prefere growing them on Horse Poo, instead of cow... i use BRF/Vermiculite. i remember this guy said, he had a pile of horse poo with some psilocybe cubensis mushrooms growing on it.. he said he was just about to pick them, and he was a pretty reputable character eheh.. but they grow of cow and horse poo, because they both eat alot of grain, and straw, perfect feed for mushies to grow on.
yes they do, just inoculate some jars and get that shit goin man, fuck eating somethin thats grown from SHIT
