Hey guys... I'll be living out west for a short time... and will make quite a few trips to BC. I've heard that mushies grow wild out there... and are quite easy to find. 1. Is this true? 2. If so, any suggestions on how to pick? types? Peace
1. Yes and No. Mushrooms are relatively abundant in BC. "easy to find" is relative. A successful hunt is based on knowledge of good hunting grounds, season, current weather, and a good dose of luck. Even experienced mycologists can get shut out. So, if your sole interest in hunting is procuring shrooms, I'd suggest a simple grow technique instead. It'll be more reliable, fairly cheap, and less work. If, on the otherhand, you have an interest in hunting mushrooms as a way to study/learn/convene with nature, by all means go for it. Just don't make finding magic mushrooms the goal of the endeavor, or you will be likely disappointed. 2. Find an experienced friend and get a good, illustrated with color photos field guide for your area. Cheers
