Should I try shrooms?

Lately I've had the urge to try a psychedelic, as it is an experience which I have never had. Most of the people I know who have done harder (than pot) drugs have done shrooms. I tend to regret things I do a lot and think way too into things, so I'm wondering if tripping would be a good idea or not. People often say that tripping has opened their mind and made them see the world differently, but that idea doesn't seem appealing to me. I don't want a drug to affect the way I think and believe - I just want the experience (or maybe I don't?) Under the circumstances, should I try them? Why or why not?

if you tend to regret things you do A LOT, then don't do shrooms A LOT.

if you think deeply about things, you will likely think VERY deeply while on shrooms

if you don't want your worldview changed, even if ever so slightly, then NO, you should not eat shrooms. they can change you, drastically or slightly, or maybe not at all. but it's a good possibility.
in a way, every new experience changes you.
i think my own psychedelic use has changed me for the better. at least the first few, very enlightening trips did. now i might trip a bit too often, but psychedelics are not addicting

While tripping, shrooms will change the way you think, beyond that many variables factor in on how you respond to them during and after the trip.

As porkstock mentioned, shrooms often catalyze deep, contemplative thinking however the perceptions often elicited by shrooms can be kind of strange and silly, especially on that initial trip so they can be fun as well. I often find myself tend towards more contemplative thinking but I usually experience both sides, occassionally darker thoughts surface. The trip can come on heavily in a "why did I do this to myself" type way, so if you already tend to regret things you may experience that but its usually fleeting especially if you have answer(s) to that question going into the trip.

As long as you are a fairly stable person and treat the experience with a degree of respect I think its an experience worth having.

I was the same way. Shrooms do thing bro, amazing things...

The most recent time for example a few weeks ago. It was me and my friend we each had a bag. I was enlightened. I could control time and bend the laws of creation and destruction... I was a god.

    Have fun, do them.

i think you should. Why? You will learn from the experience whether it is a negative or positive one. It is gonna be positive most likely. Learning is great!

If you've never tripped i would recommend san pedro, read my post on the cacti forum, i just tripped last night and it was amazing. I'm the same i tend to overthink and overreact to certain situation, i can't even smoke weed without freaking out and being so introspective i feel sick with myself. San Pedro is almost like a dream and you just flow along, and you really feel connected but your not so much connected to what your view of yourself is, like say you can view your feelings or thoughts as if they're not even yours and re-think things with ease and not feel so guilty about what you've done or the way your thinking. I did a low dose and it really helped me move past some barriers in my mind and being able to love my family and certain people without tension and the guards i put up. It's very positive and vibrant and hard to think negative about things though it's possible but easy to get ahold of and get out of it. But whatever you do go into it with respect for yourself and the substance, maybe think of things your thankful for in your life, and set your intentions. Good luck with whatever you do. peace

Yeah, people tend to make mescaline out to be a crazy trip, but really it feels very nice, calm and spiritual. Psychedelics may or may not change your beliefs and views, but they tend to not do that because you're having an inner experience that is from your brain and your brain alone. You will only start to question your beliefs if you are already questioning them on the inside. Most of all: do not drop mushrooms if you are having second thoughts, your subconscious will most definitely play tricks on you if you ingest them when you truly don't want to. Best of luck to you in your journeys.

The psychedelic experience involves seeing the world in new ways, if you don't want that you don't want a psychedelic experience.

It's fun and all, but it's not brain candy that you can consume without serious deep effects, it's the fucking red pill. If you're happy in your bubble and knowing that you're in your bubble, don't pop it, I suppose.

From the start you already have the whoooole wrong way of looking at, and trying to classify, shrooms and drugs at large. What does a drug have to do to classify as "harder" for you? Are you saying that your friends who like heroin and oxy also like shrooms? There are different levels of intensity and dfiierent types of drugs, and as far as negative consequences, most psychedelics have rather few if any, for most people. As far as ability to rock your world, most take a shit on "hard" drugs like opiates..... to the point that they're used to treat "hard" drug addiction.

    Happy DreDay.

Mushrooms, at this moment in the trip I think are really enlightening and shouldn't be looked at as a drug at all. Once again I have a great time and actually learned.

Then you do not want to take drugs.
You don't. Changing they way you think is the experience.
