Me and my GF had sex 3 days ago and our condom broke, we didn't know until after. She is on birth control and it was our 2nd time in about 20 mins [thus less sperm]. The next day she got her period, and today she went to the pharmasist and she said that we have nothing to worry about, because she's on the pill and she had her period. But is having her period one day after unprotected sex a sign of her being not pregnant or is that to early to tell? I'm just still a little scared and need some re-assurance.
you have nothing to worry about. I take the pill and me and my boyfriend have never used a condom. The pill is 99.9% effective so just chill and dont worry.
ive broken condoms before and my ex was never on the pill, mybe we just got lucky but.. i dont think you have anything to worry about.
though its not 100%... but ia gree, its effective just not 100%. thats why i say only worry if the period is more than 3 days late and shes relatively regular with her periods
The pill's effectiveness percentage is based on the ability to get pregnant at anytime in a woman's cycle. So that horribly inflates it. What is the chance that a woman will have sex on the EXACT days necessary for her to conceive? That brings it down. Here is some good information for you AND your girlfriend: A fertile cycle is an average of 28 days long. A woman is fertile for 5-7 days on average, and ovulation (marking the 24-hour final window of fertility that cycle) occurs about 12-16 days before a period. So using that knowledge, your girlfriend could not have possibly gotten pregnant the day before she started to bleed. I would encourage her (and you too) to read about fertility. A good book is Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. You would be surprised at how many women have gotten pregnant on birth control pills. And what's more, you'd be surprised at how many DIDNT KNOW they were pregnant for MONTHS because they still bled monthly. Not saying that to scare you. But then again, I am. It's important information for a sexually active person to know, when and how to tell when a woman is fertile.
