I was walking back to my apartment from my work and I saw some kids playing. I walked by without much thought, than I randomly turned around, and saw two kids throwing some rocks at a bunch of ducks.

I shook my head and walked away. I looked back a second time and they were still throwing shit. They continued to throw things many times, very violently, as the ducks continued to scatter. They leaned back and put all their weight into the throw. Yelling (something) in their African dialect and laughing like crazy. The kids were maybe 12. I felt like yelling KNOCK IT OFF. It pissed me off so much to see two stupid kids disrespect animals SO MUCH. I always wonder if maybe their parents are just working way to much or something. Not sure.

I felt like I should have yelled at them. Poor ducks. Next time I see that crap I will yell. It is disgusting behavior.

well the fact that they are African does not matter. that was a very minor point. the point is, kids need to learn to respect nature and her animals. It pisses me off. I see it more and more.

will "yelling" bring that response? I think something should have been said, but I'm not sure more yelling is what is required. How bout asking why they are throwing rocks instead of bread? Make the interaction a positive one instead.

I'm pretty liberal about kids being kids, but endangering another animal isn't cool.

Tell them to aim there rocks at inanimate windows like good children should.

I was throwing logs at chipmunks once and I hit one and it died. Someone yelling would not have stopped me from doing it again. What did stop me was the murder.

I would have talked to them. You are much more likely to get a positive response out of kids if you treat them as adults.

    Yeah, sure, blah blah blah.

You think that they'd actually learn from someone kicking their ass or shouting at them?

It will just aggrivate them. You're not their daddy, they won't listen to you if you shout at them.

I find if you SPEAK to children like that, because you are a stranger they do not know advocating change in their behaviour, they will be a bit stunned. I make people pick up their litter all the time. Cant stand it.

Now that is some funny shit. You really walk around making people pick up their litter?

Should have thrown a rock or two at the kids. When they asked the reasoning you should have told them it was the same as their reasoning for picking on poor ducks that can not throw the rocks back.

Yah Gravity, we all did stupid shit. So did I. I never said the contrary. Okay?

Buuuut, throwing shit at living breathing animals who are harmless, for no reason, but to do harm is screwed up! I NEVER did that!!

I don't know if talking to them would help. maybe.

maybe that is worth a shot, but if they have the audacity to hurt another animal, they would probably have the audacity tell me to screw off too and be extremely rude.

But do you really think that Carl shouting at inner city kids would accomplish something?

They'd tell him to fuck off.

They be from the streets, G :D
