I am going to a festival in a few weeks with my bf and his best friend. My boyfriend is experienced with acid and his friend does not plan on taking any. I have never tried it. Let me add for good measure, I am very comfortable around both of them and they are truly good people. My boyfriend bought two tabs and said if I wanted to try one, he'd give it to me. He refuses to tell me what to do either way, but mentioned his first time was at a festival. I am eager to try it but I'm also nervous about the effects it will have (for a first timer) while at a festival. We picked it up from his friend and his boy basically said it was "decent quality, nothing too crazy". He basically got it for free, but he also bought $100 worth of MDMA so his friend kinda threw it in as a bonus. Based off this, my boyfriend said he doesn't think it will be strong... But then again, both him and his dealer are pretty experienced with cid so what may be "decent" to them, could send me to another planet. I really want to try it, but I'm also nervous about whether I should take it at a festival my first time. I've always had a feeling I'd be very sensitive to hallucinogens, the first time I smoked weed it put me in a totally dissociative, anxious, state and I freaked out. Alas, that was when I was 14 and I got over it... I now smoke everyday. I want to have fun and I think this will be a once in a lifetime experience, because my boyfriend is kind of past his LSD days (aside from this festival). I'm just worried I'll be frightened, anxious, unable to walk or talk.... Basically just an overall bad trip. Also, we would take this on Friday and were all planning to take MDMA on the following day (Saturday). I am experienced with Molly and am excited to roll. I don't want the LSD to put me in a funk where I am too exhausted or weirded out to roll the next day. I've been reading up on HPPD, which seems rare from just one hit, but has sufficiently scared me regardless.... Basically, my question is, should I take half of the blotter or just go for it and try the whole thing? I am excited but also nervous, I'm not sure how the crowds and music (Flying Lotus, STS9, and Modest Mouse) will affect me. I don't want to get really weird or freak out and ruin everyone's day. I trust my boyfriend and he is experienced, plus his friend will be a sober sitter. I'm just not sure of WHEN I should dose (I.e. Plan to come up) and how much I should dose (whole or half)... As a side note, I will have some Xanax, which I heard can be useful with an overly intense trip... Any input or advice is welcome!
I would take the whole hit if you really want to see what LSD is about. To be honest one hit probably will not be that overwhelming. I would guess it is no more then 120 micrograms which would be enough for some light visuals and euphoria but you will not be freaking out. As far as being unable to walk or talk. Your motor skills should not be affected to the point you can not walk. Maybe you might walk like you are drunk so not totally sober a bit tipsy can not walk a straight line. But not so serve you can not move. Just to the point where it is probably not safe for you to drive a car. The experience may make you loose yourself in your own head so you will not be in a talking mood but the words will be there if you really want them to be. The best thing you can do is be calm and always remember that if you get overwhelmed that what you are feeling is temporary. You will not die, you will not harm your body (if you have real LSD). Fear is the enemy when tripping you just have to go with it and let it take you where it may. It is possible you have what is called NBOME and that could actuly kill you with one hit if it was too strong. Look for a numbing sensation in your mouth this is will be NBOME. LSD should be tasteless or perhaps have a slight bitter taste which can be the ink used on blotter paper or in some cases the synthesis route used to make LSD. I am not a chemist but I have been told by some bigger dealers that some LSD is bitter due to this. If you boyfriend knows his source and has experience I think you can trust him to keep you safe. He will know if his friend has LSD. Using one hit of LSD one time is not going to cause HPPD you do not need to worry. For that to happen you would need to take it for a long time consistently and even then it is not something everyone gets. LSD is a very safe substance.
yes festivals are a great place to use psychedelics. a good environment to be in. just make sure that you get to know the campgrounds some before you dose so you don't get lost. you should take the whole one.
I would not recommend doing your first psychedelic in such a setting, yes it could be an amazing experience, but if it's bad, then it'll be pretty bad. At home you are much more safe and secure, everything is way more controlled, and most importantly, you aren't surrounded by 1,000 strangers all drunk and rowdy and what not.
If you do decide to try it, take a hit and this is good advice from unfocusedanakin^ I don't think a festival is the ideal place for an initial trip but one hit likely will not be a full on trip either. One hit of standard dosed acid is more along the lines of MDMA then pot. Acid is not as reassuring as MDMA and the sensations and impressions are weirder but at that dose level you will likely still have a good grasp on reality and your surroundings. Some people get tired the day after dosing, other do not. Acid doesn't really produce a crash in the way that MDMA can but you may still feel kind of off the following day when you plan on dosing MDMA. Many people enjoy 'candyflipping' which is mixing LSD and MDMA. That's another option but I wouldn't reccommend that if you plan on dosing consecutive days and only if you are certain of the purity of your MDMA and LSD.
If you try acid for the first time, and do M the day after, that festival and experience will stand out for the rest of your life. Twenty years down the road you'll still be remembering that weekend! As long as you're comfortable and have no fears (cause there's nothing to fear anyway), it'll be nothing but positive! Have fun!
First time trip for any drug is best to do in a safe, secure and already known environment for you. So at home is the best if you want to avoid bad trips. I love LSD, but also I have maximum respect for the drug.
