I prefer eMule or Ares. Good site:http://www.zeropaid.com/programs/ You should also run a tiny firewall known as Peerguardian on p2p. x
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! The latest version makes you sign up with a username, AND a VALID email address. Easy for the FED to track your downloads and searches. Limewire still works.
yeah ok i already did the whole bearshare thing. fuck them it wont even let me burn the songs and i can only listen to them for like two weeks. fuck that. i want cds. im gonna try limewire now, matt.
limewire - what a stupid piece of fucking shit i figured that since i have a cable modem now the downloads would be lightning fast. theyre no faster than when i had kazaa and dialup. what the fuck and on top of it it bogs the computer down so much that a cd would take five hours to burn with limewire running. if im gonna run limewire, fuck surfin the web or burnin a cd or playin a game. it just cant happen. limewire is all that can run. and the quality of the files that are downloaded are waay more sketchy than the ones from back in the day when i used to do it. im very disappointed, but what can i expect for free?
limewire is a resource hog but i use it to download music with and sometime i download at 4kb a second other times at 60 kb but it seem to work better for me o and one more thing anything you download from any of the above always scan it with antivirus before you open it
You don't understand how p2p works. Having broadband will only take you so far speedwise. Alot depends on the traffic on the network itself as well as how many other people are trying to download the same file from the same source as you. You may also face a slow connection if your firewall is improperly configured, or if your ISP has blocked certain ports to control this kind of traffic. Then you also have the anti's who will pummel your connection if you don't run something like PeerGuardian to keep it managable. There are now a number of companies like MediaDefender who flood people's connections with slow or misleading files to prevent piracy. Hollywood makes big use of them now. MediaDefender has 2000 servers spread all over the world to make your life of filesharing a slow and miserable experience. Run PeerGuardian, connect to the network of choice, and watch the blocklist, you'll see what I mean. It can block hundreds of connections an hour http://phoenixlabs.org/pg2/ x
If you use Limewire you should consider switching to Frostwire, www.frostwire.com. It is completely free and has more features compared to Limewires free version.
simply put, bearshare and/or limewire will rape your computer. then it will watch you while you shit.
I was gonna post about Frostwire too but I see walkerinthewoods is already on that. Yeah Frostwire is great I use it to download loose tracks and I like how it's open source and community developed too. Party on Dudes Dharmony
