Okay, I've decided to give veganism a real shot, but I need some help. I was wondering if someone could help me come up with a basic shopping list. I keep finding all these websites with endless recipies, but everything is so scattered and I'm just having a hard time coming up with a basic list to cover everything I need. Assuming I have nothing at all in my kitchen that could be considered vegan (which is probably pretty accurate), what would you all reccomend I buy?

Ours usually looks a bit like this:

Loads and loads of veg-fresh like salads, potatoes, squash, carrots etc, frozen, tinned, whatever we fancy
Loads of fresh fruit-yeah trying new ones is always nice. We always include avocadoes, coconuts or something fatty
    Some dried or frozen fruit
    Beans, lentils, quinoa, couscous
    Pasta and rice
    Pasta sauces for bolognese
    Herba and spices
    Sometimes soya mince
Doughs and pastries-really useful for making allsorts like pizzas, pasties etc
Some frozen prepackaged stuff like nutburgers, bean burgers, potato products, stuff like that
    Falafels and humous
    Tofu
    Biscuits, crackers, wraps
    Nuts and seeds including hemp
    Cereal
Rice milk (but there are obviously more options like soya, nut)
Bread and all the other usual stuff (I wont bore you!)

    And whatever else we fancy:D

Yes, hummus/humous! Have it with anything, in sandwiches, in salads, as a dip.

I try to keep various of my favorite nuts and seeds in stock, just for munching on. Almonds, cashews, pumpkin seeds, walnuts. . . And lots of fresh fruit. . .

A few I didn't see mentioned that *I* like to keep on hand are:

olive oil - a GOOD RICH one
    fresh sprouts
    wholegrain wraps
olives - preferably a "fun" kind like calamatas or sicilians
and I really like sunflower seeds - on & in everything from baked goodies to salads

    love,
    mom

Cant believe I forgot this. Yep definitely sprouts

I also forgot to mention on the veggie front you can sometimes get good prepacked stirfry stuff thats pretty good, when other veggies are added, some seasonings, some soysauce, tofu and rice noodles. Really quick and easy meal. Or you can mix it up and add whatever you want

I also like to keep different nuts on hand~almonds, cashews, walnuts, peanuts
no special reason except that I like them.
