Which one (A, B, or C) remains to be the best w/ a lot of pros rather than cons?

    A) Buying a pair of shoes, and traveling by walking w/ them on.

    B) Buying a bicycle, and traveling by riding it.

    C) Buying an automobile, and traveling by driving it.

i'd say walking. it has the smallest carbon footprint; you aren't weighed down with any equipment, you can go anywhere.

    D.

Gathering up tnrown away bike parts and other junk and building yourself a solar assisted, pedal powered, three wheeled RV!

Having tried everything you posted, each for at least a few months at a time, D is the answer.

Feet are great but carrying the stuff you need so you're not totally dependent can be a pain. You'll need a good frame pack, tent, sleeping bag, change of clothes.....anyway, 80 lbs is as light as I've been able to get it so I can spend a month in the woods, and that's not carrying much water for emergencies. It's hard to get a ride with a frame pack. You have to stash it places to look normal. Cops hate you...etc.

Bicycles are awesome but you still have to carry the 80 lbs of gear and then you have to stash the gear and the bike. Also, if it's a nice bike, you have to worry about theft. If it's a crappy bike, you'll be fixing it constantly.

I've lived in Toyota pickups, Chevy vans, little Rv's, a box truck, and even a 6x6 military vehicle that ran on waste veggie oil. Most of the time that I had a vehicle I was stranded due to lack of funding for fuel or maintenance. A 200 mile trip to Phoenix in my little RV cost at least $200. Then you're also dealing with cops, customs, insurance, registration....

The trike I'm building will roll for free, be able to take trails instead of roads, haul my crap, give me a place to sleep, cook, wash, chill, provide some electricity, and since it's three wheels, with pedals, in the eyes of the law, it's a bicycle so no paper of fuel costs whatsoever, just tires every few thousand miles. It can lock up and take a parking spot just like a car so less worries about your stuff getting stolen. Also, if you're rolling around in a sustainably built, pedal powered mini home, you're going to get a lot of attention from cool people. Normals will think you're a wingnut though and likely leave you alone.

I have most of the parts and will be starting the build any day now. I've got room for an intern/partner or two if you're down to camp and help/learn. More at muut.com/campexist
