Shock Horror, BNP Racist!!

It's official, the BNP are racist, or atleast have racist members...who woulda thought it?

I mean is it me, or didnt we all know this anyway, although it is suddenly offcial now and places them in a difficult possition and possibly damnaging their reputation slightly, they've always denyed being racist, however now that they cant just say that, because they've been caught...oops

I was in tears at one of th speaches the BNP made.... how can a human being be so heartless....

The BBC said they had passed the footage to the police... i.e. incitement to provoke racism etc etc

The BBC did a documentary about them not long ago exposing all this....

It didnt get as much hype as this one though.

I think just by looking at the BNP's members criminal records you could get a pretty good idea of what they are about...

Lets hope this one has reached a wider audience?

British National Party leader Nick Griffin was unrepentant after being filmed by the BBC attacking Islam as a "vicious wicked faith".

In an interview, he refused to say sorry and said the "Islamification" of the West had partly happened by rape.

But he did apologise for comments made by other BNP activists shown on BBC documentary The Secret Agent, broadcast on Thursday, confessing to race crimes. Three of them have been expelled from the party, Mr Griffin said.

Reporter Jason Gwynne spent six months infiltrating the BNP's West Yorkshire branch with the help of a former local organiser.

In the documentary, footage recorded at a meeting in Keighley shows Mr Griffin warning the audience to "stand up" to Muslims.

He said Islam "has expanded through a handful of cranky lunatics" and "is now sweeping country after country".

Speaking to BBC's Newsnight, he refused to apologise for his comments and continued to attack Islam.

Asked whether he thought Islam had expanded due to rape, a theory he had previously stated, he said: "It's one of the ways in which it's expanded, it's also expanded as the Koran tells its followers to do so - it's expanded at the point of the sword."

He added: "You give me 20 minutes or an hour - a special programme to dissect the Koran and I will show you that we have a monster in our midst."

Faeces attack

Mr Griffin accused the BBC of selective editing in the documentary and said his full speech had discouraged attacks on communities.

West Yorkshire Police are investigating the footage.

One BNP member told Mr Gwynne how he kicked and punched a man during the 2001 Bradford riots.

Another member said he wanted to "blow up" Bradford's mosques with a rocket launcher.

And BNP council candidate Dave Midgley is shown saying he squirted dog faeces through the letterbox of an Asian takeaway.

Mr Griffin told Newsnight he was appalled by the comments and said: "There's no defence at all for what those people said."

Three party members have been expelled and a fourth is facing an internal disciplinary tribunal, he said.

But he accused Mr Gwynne of provoking the men into saying these things - a claim denied by the programme makers.

Muslim groups said they were shocked but not surprised by the BNP's comments.

Earlier this month, Home Secretary David Blunkett unveiled plans to make inciting religious hatred a criminal offence.

In parliament the BNP was dubbed a party of "vile Nazis and thugs" by Commons Leader Peter Hain, amid condemnation from all parties.

Coming from the East End I get to hear racist attitudes a lot, and not just from white people.

I have heard stuff from white people like "Well I don't mind the blacks but I hate paki's" or similar, I'm sure most people have come accross this stuff in their lives.

When I worked as a cab driver I would often pick up pakistani kids who you would hear slagging off Bengali's, I've heard Jews slagging off blacks, blacks slagging off whites and Arabs slagging off Jews. I've even heard Irish travellers slagging off Roma gypsies.

A lot of people with racist traits are pretty ordinary folks whose anger is fed by a mixture of fear, culture and pressure from their peers ... it grows like a disease and it is wholly a very unattractive trait in any race.

In many ways it is similar to an abuse victim going on to become an abuser.

Saying that though, I can see the dangers of thrusting a lot of different cultures into one small melting pot. These cultures have evolved over many years and it isn't natural for them to be all living together, they can't realistically be expected to see eye to eye with everyone.

I see it as part of the sickness of the human race in general, some parts of the planet are grossly overcrowded and people get frustrated at what they consider threats to their way of life. Part of this may stem from natural tribal and territorial instinct.

The only solution I can see is for the whole world to change it's outlook. To do that every single one of us has to become willing to change from within.

I say stop hating and start loving, get into different cultures and learn things at their level, when you do that respect will just come without even trying. You have to give of yourself before you can recieve and the best way to carry a message is attraction and not promotion.

There was an interview with Nick Griffin on newsnight not long after that programme. he stuck by his views and said that because Islam was a religion and not a race he was not inciting racial hatred.

I want to avoid just branding him as scum because that will just be seen as an uneducated argument.

Nick Griffin is a very highly educated and articulate man. He refers to the Qur'an in a way that would make Islam seem like the most evil religion on Earth, however the bible is also full of murder, rape and all sorts of inhumanities written in a different time that can easily be taken out of context.

The people who do vote for the BNP are not necessarily evil, they often don't realise the history behind the BNP and are often so blinded by their anger that they don't realise the potential consequences of their actions.

I personally think that the BNP should be allowed to exist, that they should have an open platform and be allowed to spout whatever hatred they feel.

At the moment they are presenting a watered down image of their true colours. If they are allowed to express their true voice they will no longer be attractive, people will be able to see them for what they really are and make up their own minds without being conned.

Saying that though I also think that all politicians should be vetted in the same way that social workers and teachers are. After all they have positions of great responsibilty towards fellow human beings.

 

Spot on, this is the reason that I was very pleased to see this documentary last night and the interview that followed, anyone who was thinking of voting BNP probably would have watched it and as the majority of people are essentially good people they'll loose a lot of vote.

I also agree that they should not be stopped, just because their views are something I would consider to be foul they still have the basic right to hold their own views and express them how they like (up to, but not including, harassment and violence).

 

I think the Secret Agent documentary is an excellent idea. It's a shame I haven't seen it yet. Maybe (assuming it hasn't been done so already) America should take it up, and scrutinize their political parties. I't s an idea...

 

The one thing i did not like about the documentary ,was it was not saying anything new

Why are they not speaking in there original dialect why don't they trace every members heritage .... weed out the 'diluted' members communicate in their 'mother tongue' and come back and see were things are... you know what i noticed down at one of the parks near me, one for little kids, (no i wasnt bunking school to play in the kids park honest)...

... well theres these letters, 3 on each thingy and you can turn them round and make words. there are 3 columns, each with a different set of letters but in a different order each time.

automatically if you are making a word you go to the top left turny thing.

guess what the 3 letters were and what order they were in.... BNP.

i nearly died. you should have heard me.

think of all the kids who read off the letters in order they would go something like BNP,BNP,BNP. and then relate it to the BNP in the future.

hmm, must go deface it...
