Well, my Janis was found dead tonight. That woman called, and told us she's seen her, told my sister where... she was hit by a car, not too far from home.

I can hardly realize it, I mean, it seems like I've preparing emotionally for that kind of thing for a week... I guess it was fate. Cats know it when they're gonna die, she must have left a week in advance for getting my family used to her abscence.

Good thing it was a quick death... I'm gonna miss her so much! :*( You have no idea how sweet that cat was, she would lick you! She was so affectionate, so understanding, so sweet, so delicate... and so cute with her red Scottish collar and its little bell! I'll never forget about her. Never. She was unique. The way she meowed was so adorable too, she sounded like a bird, or like a dolphin!

I hope she's happy where she is now... that her soul comes back to Earth into the next cat I'll get. I love her, my Janis, I'm crying so hard, it's so hard to realize that I'll never see her again! I don't know what I'm gonna do!

I'm so sorry....I don't really like cats, but that is sad for you. :( *I am not pissed off, as the so-called "sad face" might imply*

I'm sorry too...it must be hard. I hope she had a long happy life. It's true animals sometimes sense when they are going to die. I hope I have much more time left with my kittys. *hug*

    ((((((hugs)))))))
    I am sorry about Janis:(
I know what you mean about her meow sounding like a bird or a dolphin- my cat does that too, so I call mine birdie. Maybe now you will find another kitty that needs a home and you will love her/him just as much. So sorry

I'm sorry to hear about your pet. Being a pet owner myself I can empathise your feelings at this time.

It seems that we don't own our pets, but rather they own us. They give us constant companionship, loyalty, and afftection; this is a good arrangement.

Thanks everyone. I'm feeling a bit better today than yesterday, but I still need some time to get over it...

I think it's unfait she had to die so soon. She was only a year old! But at least, she had a wonderful life. Me and my boyfriend as well as the rest of the family gave her so much love and affection, and all the food and comfort she wanted.

I think she felt that something was wrong with her, she must have been sick or something, and I think she killed herself intentionally, when she knew it was the end. She wouldn't have crossed the street... she was so incredinly shy, would never get closed to any of the family's dogs, would never go away for more than 2 days (1 night), everytime she heard a car she would run and hide away, so, it was definitely intentional. Anyways, when my boyfriend saw her, he said she couldn't have been dead for more than 2 days, and the prooves she was alive during the first 4 days she'd been missing are that we heard her meow when we called her on the street, and saw her a couple times too. But she never came. That wasn't normal... her death wasn't an accident. In a way it makes me feel better, I don't know if you understand... but if you love your pets and are a little bit spiritual, you will, I guess.

I am so sorry you lost your cat. It takes a while to recover, especially if they were young.

I lost my Malamute Akasha in October. She ate a woodchuck, which was fat, and she got pancriatitis and died a pretty sad death. It took us about 6 months before we could get an other dog. I have lost old dogs, and it is sad, but when an animal dies in the prime of it's life, it is sadder.

My thoughts are with you. Blessings.

Penny, I am so sorry for your loss.

when I was about 13 I had a cat named Jack that was so special. He too lost his life to a car. I was so heartbroken, there was never a cat like Jack. I thought I'd never get over him. One of my most piercing memories of that time is a friend of my mom's lost a child to leukemia, and at the time I thought they couldn't hurt anymore than I did over losing Jack. I really couldn't understand the difference between grief for a lost child and grief for my lost pet. No matter, feelings are feelings, that's what I felt at the time, and I remember my mother's shock that I could even compare losing a child to losing a beloved pet. Well, the pain of my loss was very extreme to me at the time.

But he left a legacy. He was so special that in the years since, my aunt had a cat she named Jack in memory of him, and I had another one later too, named Jack. In Jack's short tragic life he touched people. I'll never forget him, and it's been over 30 years now.

anyway, hope this helps. I hope your pain lessens with each passing day. :)

I really do think we see our animals again on the other side if that helps too. I know my animal friends have been every bit as important to me as humans in this life. So how could we not meet up with them again?

    Poor Jane...

I miss her alot. She was extra affectionate for a cat. I mean, she would sleep on you, lick you, and meow in this adorable way when you came in the room. I don't think I'll ever meet another cat who is such an individual (both for the things I mentioned as well as for others).

I just hope she's okay where she is, and that we meet again someday...

    You'll be missed!
