Reluctantly cold her feet stick to the ground
Time will not stop and she cant turn around
    every step is a labor
    which she must overcome
whats ahead can't be better than that burnt out slum
    But shes tredging by inches
    frozen tears in her eyes
and theyve got to keep walking
    even if they die
    shes passing bodies of soldiers
    already stripped down
their survivors laid waste to her forsaken town
the others spit at their bodies
but shes got no room for hate
    theres no feeling at all
    her heart would dare create
there would be sorrow and anger
she'd fall down and be gone
    but she queits her thoughs
    and so she walks on

Pablo, I feel really challenged to express how much I appreciate this poem via posting.... I just really felt it.
    What inspired it?

thanks for the responses. I'm glad you apriciate it so much. It was mainly inspired by an old woman I met who had been in russia during world war 2. I was thinking of how there are so many costs to war, and how strong her will must have been to survive what she went through. I don't really think my words can do justice to the will power of someone like that.
