Shadows Love isn’t something you can grab With your hand, you understand Friends aren’t something that come and go Fast or slow, not the way it goes When you feel down you’ve got to look around Travel across the ground from here to there Sit in someone else’s chair, slip on their shoes Once you see truth, happiness is easy Too much time staring at your shadow Just lift your head and move ahead You can’t see the sun shining down If you don’t look up, look around It follows you around Dragging you down Making you feel foolish Everyone has a shadow I have seen the shadow you cast Feels like your past, doesn’t last, It’s no different than the rest of ours And it’s no uglier than the best of ours With the things you have underestimated Your life has been made too complicated Your love underrated, unreciprocated Scars not revealed, always concealed But the darkness won’t hide What you don’t want them to see It’s all a matter of the rising tide Ebb and flow, what will be will be This is actually written more like lyrics but I meant it as a poem. Who knows, maybe I will put some music to it someday.
