Any feminists here? Any sex positive feminists?

Sex positive feminism is about women's sexual liberation. It's about busting the sexual double standard and lifting the stigma attached to sex work, which is due in part to said double standard.

Do you mean women who consider themselves feminists but still love sex? Or for sex workers like hookers and porn actors? Just trying to get some clarification so as to not misunderstand your question. I do agree there are lots of double standards.

Yes sex positive feminism involves women who want casual sex or polyamory. Also masturbation to erotica or porn of all sorts. Some of them are in the sex industry/retired from it.

Thank you... I can relate to most of this.. I never worked in the sex industry, but I see nothing wrong with it.

I've always felt a little odd about calling myself a feminist. Not because I'm against feminism or have worries about the stigma that goes with the title- both valid issues for some people, I suppose- but because being sex positive (and female positive for that matter) has always seemed "normal" to me. Maybe there's something about being a feminist I'm missing.

Anyway, I identify as polyamorous. I also have no issues with casual lovers, though I prefer mine to be somewhat emotionally attached, just as a personal thing.

Can we discuss names like Wendy McElroy and Camille Paglia?

    Hi there:).

I like McElroy. I read "Pornography" and "Prostitution". I agreed with both of them to an extent.

I think doing porn is problematic because porn stars don't use protection, so that can spread diseases.

I think prostitution is problematic and not sex-positive. I think because it's illegal, and highly dangerous, it shouldn't be shrugged off.

I hate Camille. Like I've said before, she thinks women should only be promiscuous if they're getting paid for it. I think she's an idiot.

Does McElroy think pornography and prostitution are problematic, as you say it?

Are you coming to the World Cup in Brazil? Beijos.

McElroy seems to think they're no big deal at all. She even said most pimps are just managers! Pimps are just freeloaders, abusers, and enslavers. I know someone who was a big time pimp with a huge flock of hos and he said pimps serve no purpose whatsoever. They just give the illusion of security.

Unfortunately my sister can't afford to go to World Cup so she said we can shoot for the Olympics maybe. Ate logo homem.

    McElroy doesn't disappoint!

Too bad. I was hoping to meet you IRL.

I'm all for sex positive feminism. It is an uncomfortable thought for me because I come from a generation and from upbringing counter to the idea. I know logically that it is only right though. But it is sometjing that I have to think about and accept over and over until my programming is changrd. It's probably a hard thing for most guys to see women finally realize that they can be as powerful and independent as men and break free of double standards.

I'm a feminist, I love sex and now I'm a stay at home mother. Blows your mind, doesn't it?

I think prostitution should be legal and those women should be protected (so they are not raped or abused by Pimps). Do I respect them? No.

What is it you are looking for?

If it's only for the man's pleasure (the male actor) and the female is getting nothing out of it or it's painful, then of course it's problematic.

I think more men need to get the message that porn is a fantasy. Unfortunately, some women compromise themselves for a paycheck and they love being famous for their sex acts (ego booster). Personally, I wouldn't want the whole world knowing about my sex life.

    You don't respect sex workers?

I'm looking for a spirited discussion.

I think there are a lot more female-centric porn films being made all the time. Women are starting to say we like (love) sex and we say it's our birthright to enjoy it.

I think prostitution should be legalized and women (and men) should have the same rights as anyone else. I would never judge anyone who goes into this line of work, because I don't know why they chose to. The only sex industry I have issues with is the sex trafficking trade, because I feel those people don't have a lot of choice, especially when it concerns children.

Perhaps if we had a more open attitude about sex and saw the sex industry as a service just like anything else we would have less abuse.

I don't consider myself a feminist but that's just because of all the hateful, extremist feminists out there... don't want anyone confused about what I am.

What I am is def. for equality--which of course women being paid as much as men (for equal work) and being treated the same (the whole dble standards thing, etc.) is included in being for equality.

I also have never been a sex worker and I'm currently in both a monogamous relationship that is not an open one. However in the past, both before getting married and while our marriage was open, I believed....well, shit, I STILL believe that women should be able to sleep with who ever they want--- however many people they want (as long as they are not putting other people at risk), and for whatever reasons they want (ex-just liking sex/wanting to have fun) as men and not be treated different or called different things than men who do the same things. I never let bother me what some people in society think and the doubles standards towards males and females in regards to sex.

Refresh my memory. The name made me cringe, so I must have bad memories. I'm not going to have much in common with feminists in general, of course.

As far as I remember Susie Bright got into some hippie, chakra mumbo jumbo, didn't she? Not my thing.

BTW, I think pimps get a way worse rep than they probably deserve.
