Before I go mental with a needle i thought i'd check whether any of you guys had done it before and see if it was a bad idea or not! Basically, my situation is, i've got LOADS of dreads.. and i'd rather have some thicker ones. So i wanna combine, i don't wanna use bands and i don't wanna use wraps cause they won't fatten up. So i had a cunnnning plan I was thinking about sort of tacking dreads together with cotton. Good idea? Bad idea? Answers on a stamped, self addressed envelope kids!
umm hmm i have noooooo idea but it sounds strange, & well..i know how it is to have loads of dreads..lol most of mine are thin, i have hmm over 150 id guess, but do have a coupkle thick ones as well, i would really have to say i preffer the thinner ones for these reasons, the thick ones are alot harder to keep clean, getting your fingers in under the rootdss to clean the scalp is far more difficult & results in more itchiness, trapped dead skin & dirt..sewinbg cotton into the dreads i wonder if that would also cause problems in the long run..
hmm, id say your safest bet would be to like comb them out some then backcomb them together you know what i mean? if they are so far gone that you cant comb them out, i dont think that sewing them together is really going to do much.. just some insight
Thanks guys, i'd rather not rip 'em out.. i've done one. I'll see how it goes, they're only 8 months gone, and im always ripping em so i think they should join! See what happens i guess!
Haha thought this might grab some attention. Strange lad with a thread and needle sewing his hair, already got strange looks off the family haha. Don't really wanna use beads cause i've got quite a few to do. I'd look like some kind of crazy, beady, monster-thing! I'll post some pictures when i finish them up in a minute
It's really difficult to show how i've done it... They look completely seamless...(which is a good thing, but bad for explanation purposes!!) But basically i had lots of lil tiny iddly ones round the side towards the back. And i've tacked them together from the roots down. In hopes that they'll make friends and become one. Already much happier with them.. Had a go with a picture all the same.. Can see better in the second picture cause you can see the dread that's Blonde and black merged together. It's pretty seamless though..
I have put dreads together. They were a lilbit loose so i just put one dread through the other and vice versa, mostly through loops and loose parts. After a month or two they are one. Good luck!
Yeah i was thinking about croteching them through each other, but thought i might get a twisted criss-crossy dread? That not that case?
