Was one of the weather headlines today. Well, no kidding, Jeebs! It is just fucking April, after all, and this shit rides out until a messy orgasm at the end of June or the middle of July. Why does this surprise people? And the people who live in tornado alley who are always surprised by tornadoes. Jesus Christ, people, do you realize it's called tornado alley for a reason?
Couldn't pay me enough to live in tornado alley! Of course, I do live in a hurricane prone area for free, hmmmm.
Yeah, the area is shut down. Everything is underwater. Theres an ambulance submerged at a feeder road and the dude in the ambulance had to swim out of the ambulance. Its still raining, it will rain all day today and tonight. Cars everywhere under water. No deaths yet.
yeah, hurricanes suck, but they dont happen often enough to be too bad. What did you do when Ike came our way? We went to pinehurst. no damage done at home. a few branches on the ground.. nothing else.
We live right on the edge, so we get "almost" tornadoes sometimes. But I don't want to jinx us because 1) I live in a trailer house and 2) the last one that hit city limits was 3 HUGE ones at once. I saw one of them from the safety of the town 12 miles away.
i think i'll be more worried when the headlines announce "severe weather done; smooth sailing for the rest of existence."
We stayed bc my grandfather has lukemia and was too sick to travel. It was insane and I never want to go thru that again. Our area was mandatory evac. NO ONE was around, so eerily quiet. The sounds we heard during the worst part of Ike, I will never forget. You could trees snapping and falling, transformers blowing and at times we feared the house being ripped apart, it was creeking and you could feel the pressure change. A large tree fell on the back of the house, luckily we were all in a front room, away from windows. The damage here was awful. Street lights were hanging in intersections, we almost took one to the windshield while looking for ice. Trees on top of cars, houses totally fucked up and swing sets and trampolines on fences and in the streets... No power for 2 weeks. No ice, no hot shower.... fuck that. Yeah, I'm glad it doesn't happen very often!
dang. you have some balls. An ambulance couldnt have transported him? Yeah, the two weeks without power sucked. My side of town didnt see too much damage, but Im not as far south as you are. We had the ice and water and food station like 3 blocks from work. it was convenient.
We tried to get him an ambulance service but they were so backed up evacuating nursing homes. This is a small area, so abulances are limited. We would have drove him but he was really ill from chemo two days earlier. They did come get him after the strom moved off, took him to some town west of here to a hospital, where he stayed until things were half way normal around here.
