Does anyone have a set cleaning schedule? For example, laundry day is Monday, Tuesday is dusting, Wednesday the bathroom gets cleaned, ect. If yes, what is it? I always plan on having a set cleaning schedule, but I never stick with it. I do think my household is in pretty good working order, though.
Nope. I've never been good with schedules. I just do things when I think or see they should be done. So far it works perfectly.
I've started doing my deep cleaning friday nights - which sounds lame. Whateva. I dont really have much energy to do much besides keep things straightened up and somewhat orderly after work during the week, but i was getting too stressed saturday mornings because i feel like i cant go do anything fun until the house is clean. So now i sweep and mop the house, dust, and clean the bathrooms friday nights. and saturday morning i can do whatever i feel like gosh Laundry i just do when i run out of things to wear
I can understand this...it is hard to relax or do anything in a messy house.... Sometimes my husband and I spend all day Sunday being lazy and doing nothing - but I have to tidy the house before I can do this....It is kind of ironic, cleaning my house so I can be lazy.
laundry day is sunday, just because it's the only day i usually have a 2 hour block of free time to do it. dishes i do as i use them. everything else is on an as-needed basis.
We have a maid come in on Monday morning and Thursday morning to take care of big cleaning items (laundry, mopping floors, cleaning bathrooms, dusting). We tidy up/do dishes daily between her visits. We are moving onto full-time help come August though.
nope. i base everything on level and condition triggers, then deal with things as i remember their needing to be dealt with. its not deffered maintainence, but its not scheduled maintianence as such either. some things, like cookware, are dealt with almost immediately after use, because i live in a space to small to have large numbers of them to spare, nor really any place to let them accumulate where they wouldn't be in the way, and i have no wish to create a habitat for bugs. i do everything that needs to be done myself. keeping everything that isn't part of my focus as minimal as i can, helps a lot. much as i would like to live someplace where i had like a real kitchen to myself, a dishwasher and washer dryer of my own, and a room for trains and powertools seperate from my bedroom home office everything but kitchen and bath room room, getting into one seems like an insurmountable hassle to me. i also have the problem that the more i plan something, the less likely i am to actually do it. i do plan things on the go, and occasionally make lists to not forget things, for the most part, deliberately NOT scheduling is my workaround of this weird thing about my head, that actually seems to work reasonably well. if this is what someone else meant by spontonaity, well it isn't that either, which is also something i can't ever trust completely. i do get most things done that need to be. but not always everything and with the few exceptions noted, seldom immediately. yes i'm kind of a nut. not the kind of not that is running the world today, and a danger to everyone because they are, but i do have this kind of mental crap to deal with. fortunately it doesn't depress me either, so i don't have the problem with that most people seem to. but that's just it. other people have different kinds of problems and different kinds of advantages and dissadvantages, and guess what, to me that's just fine, because i believe diversity is the way the universe is and is meant to be. but it does keep me, from integrating well into the kind of world, 'everyone' else seems to want to live in. in the kind of world i think would be reasonable, i would get along just fine, more then just fine, but we all live in the world that we do. the one that ego and aggressiveness keeps fucking up.
What does a full time maid do all day though? If you dont live in a 5000 square foot house, that is. imagine i could keep a maid busy for a couple of hours a day but probably no more than that. Thats cool though, i would definitely get a maid if i could get one for $200 a month. I like things very, very clean but i hate doing the actual cleaning.
I'm sure we'll figure it out. There will be more grunt work there - all laundry needs to be ironed, water for dishes needs to be boiled before you use it to clean, etc. They go to the market for fruit/meat/fish. Cook simple meals.
