that's very odd, considering it's been 50 degrees farenheit pretty much all winter so far here in ohio. I hope they get snapped out of it soon

In your place its warmer like in almost all of the USA, theres some frost far north or in the north east.
To see the same temperatures as we have in central europe right now you have to go way up to northern Canada, so we have in europe a canadian like winter right now with snow and frost even in the mediterranean countries.

As for the question how long this can last, about half the global weather computer models this morning show continuing cold until mid february at least, the other part of the models show a possible warming up in a week or so, but such a cold air cushin is heavy and difficult to get rid of so I think chances are slightly over 50% that this cold stays until mid February or longer...

Here a map from this morning- europe frozen but most of the USA quite warm.
Eastern europe all the way down to Turkey and Greece suffer from this cold for a weeks already, in western europe the cold wave arrived this week.
Even in parts of northern Africa the freezing air and snow have arrived.

that is crazy, the earth's axis is shifting at a fast speed. i am on the east coast USA and we got to almost 70F today when it is normally 30F and below.

now that you mention it , the nights are unusually cool for january and its only 31c here today, they are saying that winter will arrive earlier and stay longer here .We are also having serious veldfires in the Cape .The whole worlds weather is changing , and some people dont believe in global warming .Do they need any more proof ?

it has to do with the axis shift of the earth, we are in store for a next ice age very soon but before the iceage the water must melt. thus why the seasons are becoming opposite.

nah it's just the uneven heating of the earth causing all the fuss, no new ice age anytime (relatively) soon. Cold fronts come and go, but im sure it has something to do with climate change. Colder winters and harsher summers, welcome to the reality your politicians have been ignoring :D

I must admit, as a Texan seeing all that snow is kinda making me jealous seriously we hardy get snow down here.

    Somethings up.

Last winter I nearly froze to death (in Arizona). This winter it's been almost t-shirt weather here. Very strange.

I just found this story today:

Forget Global Warming - It's Cycle 25 We Need to Worry About

This isn't the first time I've read about a "mini ice age" coming either, btw.

The large river of cold air originating from Siberia/Russia arrived as far south as Africa where we can see palm trees in the cold, windy air and snowfall.
