don't freeze them the water will burst. they will make it to spring no problem, pry a few good years.
No you can keep them in the freezer for quite a while (years) just be sure to let them sit out for a few days to thaw before germinating them. The germination rate does decrease so the fridge is better for short term 1-2 years just keep them in a dry airtight container.
