i have reason to beielve g double o gee ell e monitors everything i do on the internet........ am i the only 1?
They don't track you as an individual unless you search for something thats going to send up a red flag like how to make a nuclear bomb, etc. They do maintain a database of EVERYTHING however. So it could come back and bite you years later if somebody wanted you bad enough. x
Do they track best wishes like, "I hope the FBI finds and stops the terrorists before they bomb President Bush."? And Xexon, how would they even know who you are if you have a proper firewall? (I like your avatar).
The government can access you computer whether you have a firewall or not. Besides, a firewall has nothing to do with being tracked when it comes to internet searches and websites visited. They still have your IP.
Your IP follows you wherever you go on the internet because the information has to be able to find your computer out of all the millions of other computers online. You can use a proxy to hide it. If you're real talented, you can chain proxies together so the info has to make several hops before it get to you. Slow, but fairly secure. Another problem is your MAC address. If you have a modem, either for dialup or broadband, it too has a number built into it. That's traceable. Same goes for network cards. While you can throw alot of things in the way, if Uncle Sam REALLY wants to know you, they will. Most people don't have to worry about it though. Just exercise a little common sense while online. x
Google's admitted that they track everything you do - They even said that soon they'll be listening in on your microphones to get "advertising information"
