I rented a documentary on Hunter S Thompson called "Buy the ticket Take the ride". It's a decent enough flick but to my chagrin has actor Sean Penn as one of the commentators. I don't know what it is about this guy but everything he say's, even the few things I agree with him on sound like bull shit when he utters them. I know next to nothing about him other than that he played "Spicolli" in fast times. So is it just me or is this guy full of shit?
I'm not critiquing his acting ability, I guess you may have to watch the documentary to understand where I'm coming from. Different strokes for different folks, ect ect...
oh, I see.. Well I really dont care for HST.. was he saying thing that sounded like bs refering to hst?. if thats the case then it was prolly bs.
No the opposite really, he came off like he wanted to be the loudest most outspoken of all of HST supporters. If it were a movie role I'd say his acting was shit, but since it was supposedly his honest opinions on the subject he came off a little fake in my opinion. I also think that HST was a bit over rated.
A very fine actor and an intelligent man that has opinions and uses his fame to get attention to issues that he cares about. Probably has a fairly large ego. I imagine being famous can do that to a person.
Sean Penn is a great guy. Hunter was a great guy. Hunter is no longer around to call his bullshit, you have to take it for what it is. Some people just come off as full of it. Nothing can be done.
I like Sean Penn; but he does have a way of making some people want to see him just get the shit knocked out of him. If you are one of those, check out the movie U Turn: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120399/ Not only is it an excellent movie with some great performances "out of the box" by some very good actors/actresses; but the character that Sean Penn plays bescially gets shit on more and more until the very end of the movie. It's a guilty pleasure to watch it with the fantasy thought that it is actually Sean Penn getting shit on that way instead of the character he plays. Excellent flick.
First off, this needs to be noted and is most certainly a first, as far as I know or recall...but I completely and totally agree with you, Rudenoodle.:2thumbsup: I do even have my own reasons for finding him annoying on many levels, none of which have to do with anything I've seen "lately", other than quick views, pre-views of some bs in which he is involved. Having said that...I find him very, very physically unattractive and cannot and could not understand why Madonna ever even blinked his way other than he could aide business wise. He is accepted and loved my many - as shown by these posters thus far. However, I find him not intelligent, but a type of street-wise ass who is and was able to piggy-back and latch onto others who did/do have the true finess talent, wit and class I think he lacks. jmo
i very much liked the little 9/11 movie he made with ernest borgnine as a tenement dweller whose view was brightened by the removal of those shadow-producing objects
sean is cool...anyone catch him on 2 1/2 men when alan was trying to get him to do a bit of ''spicole''....hilarious
ok, I did see that and it was the solitary, only time I was able to see him and not want to leave the room....but that could've been because that was also the episode when there were several other stars (counting Charlie, of course) which I actually find talented, and physically appealing.
Sean Penn LOL, actor, LOL. LOOOOL I am glad I am not the only one that thinks like you. I seriously thought I was the only one who could see that he was giving the word "actor" a bad name
Shows his marginally excited views for democracy. Religion was always to him a favorable preference for freedom in the march for truth. The truth shall set you free. You tell 'em, Sean.
