You might want to come up with a different designation than SDS. SDS overlapped slightly with the Weatherman movement and I think many people (including Homeland Security) would be somewhat upset and assume you advocate terrorism.
It's easy for the govt to declare any group a terrorist group. They declared the Lebonese TV network al Manar a terrorist group because they didn't like what was being said about Israel. Of course, all the satellite wholesalers dropped that network from the American airways in fear of being accused of aiding a terrorist group. I got to see some of the former SDS members at a reunion in Ohio. Richie Hess and Tom Grace were two of them. They gave some interesting accounts of the atmosphere at Kent State at the time of the shootings of the students. The atmosphere on campuses today is very different. Students spend much of their time just working to pay their tuition. There was more free time in the 60s and groups traveled across the country and intermingled with each other. Those things usually don't happen today. Some states now have laws that if you do anything related to terrorism, they will cut off your funding and ban you from higher education in the state indefinately. Ohio has such a law. The threat of such a punishment deters many students from joining any kind of protest group. .

A knitting groups, huh? I suppose the govt was afraid that they might use their pointy crochet tools to hijack a plane. .
