Scum Preacher burns Koran=at least 9 dead

The old lowlife fundy preacher, Terry Jones in Florida, burned a Koran and the resulting riots in Afganistan have left at least nine dead so far. Burning korans, flags, bibles whatever is protected as free speech. This filthy old attention seeking cretin stirred up shit last fall by making his threats then. He backed down at the time but apparently went ahead with it yesterday. He was told and knew full well what would happen if he did it and chose to do so at the cost of several lives. Words completely fail me in an effort to describe how much I loathe this piece of shit. Legally he can't be prosecuted. I would love to be able to haul him and his stinking congregation to Afganistan and dump him to the mobs. Since this isn't possible what would be an appropriate response? Yeah Yeah put bibles in out houses and latrines thats fine but really what needs to happen to this vermin? I know if I were in the government I have the IRS crawling up his ass in a split second but this fool and his tools really need to feel the pain for their actions.


Do I sound angry and spiteful? Sorry I just struggle with this kind of christian love.

Yes you can blame him. He knew full well the impact of his actions. He knew he was dealing with uneducated, impoverished people whose only comfort is their tragic belief in a "good book". He had been told by any number of people including the state department that his actions would incite riots. Understand, I have no love for the idiots rioting either but he did this as a deliberate provocation with full knowledge of the outcome. He has blood on his hands.

You can't forget that he is one of those people who believe in a "good book"; in a sense, he even believes in their book, just as an "evil book"

To Muslims the Koran is The Word of God. To burn The Koran, throw it away, deface it, rip it, is to do that to God. Christians do not look at The Bible as Muslims look at the Koran. Sadam Hussein had a Koran written by hand with his blood in the ink-joining him to the Word of God.

There is a Muslim Sect who 'repair' Korans that have been damaged. They sort thru pages, collecting them in many different piles so that they can repair them. Returning pages to similar Korans that are missing pages. This is how they spend their lives.

Yes they are all nuts-The Muslims and Christians-but to burn either book is TRYING to cause problems with the other.

One day Terry Jones will burn just like the Koran that he burned.

 

I think that this guy knew, or should have known, that people would die if he burned the koran.

imho, the best thing to do would be to modify the first amendment. free speech was intended to protect, and should protect, the expression of ideas, but I don't think that koran burning is needed to express an idea.

I would favor a very narrowly written modification of the first amendment, such that burning or defilement of the koran would be forbidden. One could still criticise Islam, but not in this way.

Passing such an amendment would probably go a long way toward peace in afghanistan and iraq

It's very difficult to modify the constitution though, which I think is a major flaw

That could be a problem tho,if we start modifying our documents or way of life to adhere to un-educated peoples "thinking" on the other side of the globe. Universal education would be the key to ending religious foolishness. Not happening.

 

it would be great if we could just get all the world's muslims to just chill out, but I don't think that's going to happen any time soon.

It would be much easier to change the constitution. It's not ideal, but practically speaking, nothing of real value would be lost, and many lives could be saved.

I don't think that enough of the public would support this in order for it to pass, but even an effort to change it might help calm the violence.
