I have been astonshed at the level of action taken to cut down on cannabis in particular in US schools - based on stories on these forums. Also by the police in some cases. I don't really get the US, as Denver is it legal, yet somewhere else they will tear up a locker at school for weed. Also the DARE anti-drugs campaign ads and "above the influence" ads, they would never get away with being released in the UK. Every polotician in the country would bombard the company with false information, misleading the public etc. - even if they are against marijuana. How can people over there believe that rubbish, and why the hell is it allowed on air? Now, I go to a normal state school in the UK, and we can talk about weed as much as we like - the teachers know who smokes it, and joke about it "morning josh, looking a bit off, wake and bake today?" for example, noone cares, some teachers even encourage it. Also, if someone gets caught dealing, they get a verbal warning... and don't even ge their weed taken off them... maybe it's because our school is sensible with stuff like that, maybe it's because a huge percentage of the school smoke it... who knows. I was just wondering, where you live, is smoking weed socially accpetable, accepted by your teachers/school, generally accepted by the police (even if they have a law against it) etc.
it seems for most people in the uk cannabis is not such a big deal... we were talking about deviancy in my class and the lecturer mentioned something about other lecturers puffing and he thought that didnt make them criminal in any way... I bet he does smoke too, he confessed to me he used to be a hippie in the 70s hehehehe cool dude
Well the UK also just downgraded pot to a class C drug. In the US, it is still schedule I, your equivalent would be class A. To answer your question, weed is VERY socially accepted where I live, despite fairly harsh laws. Although even the cops seem to have a softer stance on it than other places I have been. It is part of the culture here, a coastal city in Florida. I know very few people who dont smoke, and they are perfectly fine with others smoking, just prefer to drink themselves. This is the kind of place where every apartment or house you go to has a bong out, and some nice dank buds to smoke. Some of the people I have toked with include people I met in waffle house, bars, my apartment office people, a 45 year old coworker at my old job, and the list goes on. The US has areas that are heaven for pot smokers, and places where virtually nobody smokes due to poor availability and tough enforcement.
well in pakistan ,karachi to be exact.....its not socially acceptable......you wud nevar see a average man above35 smoking a joint...(he'd be drinking if he had too)......the young youth...though does it all lot..and there has been a major increase... mostly everyone does it...and the police are payed on monthly basis..so then the police doesnt interfear with the public when there trying to score....or something. in school....theres not much of a drug problem though...its not like its a topic or nething.. ppl do it thats it.....nothing big.
It is somewhat socially acceptable in Missouri. It all depends on where you go, though. There are some backwoods places that are real tough, but I was talking to a friend from St Louis and she was saying if you do get caught, they take your weed but not your piece, because the broken glass would add to the litter problem. Some cops don't care, some care way too much. Two nights ago I was sobriety tested and searched because my suitemate was reported to have pot.
thats awesome, that u dont get into trouble like that. at my school we get in trouble for having a picture of weed, like on out binders, or on a shirt. if we get caught with it, we can get arrested or something. idk i dont wanna find out either. UK schools are awesome. peace~
Yeah, if you even so much as get caught talking pro-pot or even neutraly pot at my school, you're fucked... My school is full of kids whos parents have waaaay too much money so the smoking community is maybe a good 20% of the school, but about 15% of those kids give it a negative connotation and always brag about it, just to turn around and still be like, "Yeah man, I'm addicted and like, it's bad for you I need to quit soon...gotta stick to drinkin" and shit like that and then it just fucks over the rest of us...
here you either give a shit or you dont, for school, a kid i new last sept. got narced on by some kid and got suspended for the next 3 days. It also depends on the cop if you're getting arrested, one friend of mine got her and some other kids weed and pipes taken away and they had to call their rents but luckly no record from it. Her parents signed her up for counciling, she dosent need it at the least however.
US absolutly hates pot, EXPECIALLY California, in California marijauna is in the same class as heroin....HEROIN! but i live in north cali where all the herb is and where im from, if the cops find a little weed on you, they will just take it from you and tell you "it's illegal, dont do this stuff" shit like that, but schools on the other hand, will go through your shit, search your person, have drug dogs come to each class everyday and sniff your backpacks, my school barly has any stoners left, me and like....70 other people at my school smoke herb and thats it, there used to be like 600+ untill the school got strict, (teres alot of kids at my high school) once there was 453 refurals in one day, ONE DAY i think that was some record because more than 50% of it was about drugs
at my school no one cares if you turn up high. some teachers would pick on you a bit in a friendly sense. the main thing my school has a problem with is dealing in school but they hardly ever get the pigs involved. even the cops seem pretty lax about it. getting searched by them with badges, t-shirts and shit like that. all they find is a pipe and we get let off with a warning.
well we dont really care if we are high in school and have nothing on us because its not a crime to be high at school, they cant do anything about unless they find shit on you
