Schools, Concerts and Grocery stores under COVID

Discussion in 'Latest Hip News Stories' started by Deleted member 42017, Mar 14, 2020.

  1. So I went into Publix (where shopping is a pleasure) yesterday in a wealthier part of Marietta and got to see a mad rush of rich people acting like a hurricane was on the way. All the bread products except a few tortillas and some rye were all gone. All of the milk was gone. All of the shopping carts were being used and all of the checkout lines were working feverishly to empty the store.

The whole university system in Georgia is shut down and all of the concerts have been postponed.

On the plus side, commuting this week has been a breeze. Nobody is going anywhere, except the grocery store!

what i don't understand is how gas is under $1.80 yet i don't see anybody filling their tanks. is it just because they already filled up and aren't going anywhere to use it now?

The same type of behavior is being reported throughout the country.

I experienced it myself just yesterday at Shaw’s Market, and again this morning at the whole foods market. Ordinarily at 8:00 am there are 4-5 people waiting outside for the store to open. This morning there were 50 people. I’ve never seen it that busy even with an impending Blizzard approaching.

  5. Wow, I thought "Whole Paycheck" would be the least likely to have this happen. After all, 90% of their customer base is tolerant, accepting and "woke" (whatever that means at the moment). Really, who rushes a store for kale juice and vegan sushi?

Well they still need their Pinot Noir and their Cabernet Sauvignon from the Wine & Spirits section in order to deal with the current crisis, their cheating husbands,
    and spoiled little brats....lol..

Super annoying not being able to buy anything at the store lately. People are greedy. Those who have the means can create a huge stockpile of supplies but those who live paycheck to paycheck can only afford to get a small quantity of what they need when they get paid. (For example) How’s a working class mom supposed to get diapers and formula right now when some rich asshole mom got there first and cleared the entire shelf?

I can't say why people aren't hoarding that too, but I'll say this: low gas prices are actually a bad economic indicator. It can mean the people making the stuff see an economic slowdown on the horizon.

Costco is out of so many things, they are moving all the stuff from the back to the front and not restocking shelves.

I was at WinCo 2 days ago. It seemed like everything was adequately stocked.

    Might be looking different today

I’ll head there in an hour to buy my aging parents some rice and non-perishables at their request. They’ve barricaded themselves in their home.

Bizarely today, Im in and around Bondi and its surrounds, on a Sunday afternoon.....and every Cafe was jammed packed for miles

Like every other thing they can do was shut down, so lets all go pack in like sardines to the local cafe

    Only added to the lunacy

Alcohol is the latest craze for stocking up in the UK. It may have originated from the warning that 60% alcohol is needed to kill viruses, making antibacterial hand gel useless. Soap and hot water is all that we need.
I wonder how many idiots will think that drinking alcohol will somehow protect them. In reality, when your blood reaches less than 1% alcohol, you are dead.
Already, for every ! person who has died from coronavirus, more than 10 people have died in road crashes over the same period in their country and hundreds more from natural causes.
I wonder how many people will die on the roads while panicking to get to the shops to fill the entire attic with food.
