i hate going to school, i started high school two weeks ago, this is my third week, and ive literally hated every week. everyones telling me "dont quit becky" "stick it out a few more weeks" its easy for them to say theyre not the ones who have to go there every day. i want to be homeschooled, and my parents know, but they said i have to stay there until december before they'll "take it seriously" my uncle totally supports me and he tries to convince my parents, im babysitting down the street and i saw him drive by, im hoping he'll talk to them, a few other people are supportive but a lot keep telling me not to quit, im not quitting im just not going to be going to the traditional school setting, and when they hear that i want to be homeschooled they always ask 'why' thats a hard question, theres so many factors- i hate being woken up by an alarm every morning, getting dressed into a uniform which totally alters my personality as opposed to if i were wearing my own clothes, standing around outside before class starts and then going to each class, sitting in a plastic seat looking a chalkboard and hearing lectures, break and lunch are bad too, i have my friend that i walk around and talk with every break/lunch, but theyre still boring and neither one of us likes them, both of us dislike school, i more than i think anybody, and i hate being ordered around by all these adults who are just so much better and the dean and this weird old guy who i always get in trouble by, and for assemblies we have to stand the entire time in a humid gym to show "pride" and my parents are completely unsupportive, and to add on top of that the people i was hanging out with in the beginning of the year have totally turned on me, and i dont mind if somebody doesnt like me but the fact that they keep their reasons from me and wont tell me what the problem is, i needed their support in the beginning of school, i didnt know anyone, but they refused to give it to me- i want to be homeschooled more than anything, i was about to cry earlier thinking about it, i dont want to go back to school, everyone tells me im not going to see anybody and the social thing will be a huge issue, but its been proven that homeschooled kids can have a lot more self esteem and be more social than regular schooled kids, which i can agree with, i hate being around huge groups, there are so many people at school, and my classes are big, and for the social thing i like being by myself and having a lot of alone time, i dont like big crowds, and i can still go to parties and have people over and see my friends and go out with them, and plus there are a lot of places i want to volunteer at, id love to help my community out and i can go to the library and museum and park a lot more, and theres a homeschooling organization that homeschooled kids can go to and meet other homeschooled kids, theres another place to meet people. ive researched it a lot and read the homeschooling laws, this is what i want, and what i need right now

Well, I know this probably won't help, but everyone goes to high school and we all survive. It's not the end of the world. I've HATED school ever since I was a small child, but I'm still here and now in the last year of high school.

Believe me, high school goes AMAZINGLY fast... and that goes for everyone I've talked to, not just myself. Don't worry, I know you'll make it. :)

Well sure you should, but from what you've said, it doesn't sound like your parents are too keen on the idea of you being homeschooled. In the case that you continue in high school, I just wanted to let you know that it'll be ok. When I was a freshman, I thought school would never get better. I took things too seriously then. Now, I just blow off all of the school spirit and whatnot and have realized that it's just something to occupy my time. School will be over soon. I just let it roll off my back and everything seems to be just fine.

Heh, yeah, as a senior, I still feel like a freshman. It seems weird to not see older students walking down the hall with me... they're all younger. It just doesn't feel right.

yeah man you should be waking up early anyway, get into harmonious balance with the world around you, and all that good shit.

schools dont change you, YOU change you, its all how you handle it becky B.

its a good lesson, you cant change the world around you, you can only change how you handle and experience it. school is great for overcoming things like desire, self discipline, the system, the human mind, and responsibility. lots of lessons to be learned!!!!

Yes, exactly. Although I do and always have hated school, I do think it's helped me. High school has made a big difference for me. I can get along with almost everyone now. I'm more open because of the experience.

They just wants what they think is best fro you... someday we all hope that parents will understand- I was blessed with a very loving mother who accepted what i thought was right... try to explain how much it means ot you- and how it's not a good learning enviornemnt if you don't have a good time... it;s unhealthy to continue utting yourself into uncomfertable situations

I disagree, I think HS went by slowly. I spent my time getting in trouble and being a bitch. It was nice to have 4 years in which the worst punishment was a few days of vacation though.
