scarrification, has anyone here done it? i mean its pretty painful but u get a really good result if done. if anyone here has done it, what types of designs have u done and how did u get it done?

let me fix that for you..

"i mean it CAN BEpretty painful but u CAN get a really good result if done RIGHT."

the line work for my skin removal wasnt overly painful. bit tingly, aparently similar to tats but i havent got to that yet to compare. the removal hurts like a fucken bitch, especially in owie areas. results vary ridiculous amounts dependant on how its done and aftercare/miscare

ahh sorry. i generally post on here while im at work (call centre) so quite often i get a call then end up closing what i was reading [IMG]

dont have any pics here.. (will check my IAM page soon to see if theres any healed shots there)

design was a circle with an obscure Z through it. means a few things to me. bleh. didnt get it finished due to shock but one day will do more with it. lol..

ok a few pics of my iam.. few weeks old is most healed pic ive got online.. my scar really doesnt like to show nicely on camera sadly.. healing was quite uneven for all the line work so it looks wierd on photos

so theres a few to give more of an idea.. again gotta say it was hamishs first time doing removal, and really hadnt had much scar work before even (new zealands only really just coming out of its shell bodymod wise now). most of the very few people who ever wanted work like this done would want very small cuttings or brandings. so ya, hes still learning even though hes been piercing professionally for 12 years+ and is quite widely known as the godfather of piercing in new zealand.. only got that far on first session as shock kicked me in the ass sadly. and cutting through big scars is much worse so looking at what i really want to do with it now.

I like the idea, what i dont like is how i feel society views this. I think people would consider this self harm, when in fact i see it as the same thing as getting your ears peirced, its going to cause pain.
The only place i have seen this as acceptable in societys perspective is in tribes and things like that. Its too bad it cant be more common in our society. Awesome, it looks great.
Some questions though, what did you use? and who did you have do it?

my boss/mentor did it. been piercing professionally in newzealand (new zealands first piercing shop i believe) for 12 years.

    he used a scalpel :p

they dont love me at the moment. left one at least... must of caught it on something bad without noticing.. bar has sliced through the top a bit... and its 12 gauge! id expect it from 16 but damn thought id be safe at 12. so i have a very swallow and yuck nipple at the moment. lol. been thinking about taking them out for a while and giving them a shot again in future actually.. never wanted to heal up quite right..

    sadness

oh yes. and compliments spawn additional self-indulgent body shots. piercings included.

yeah.. will suck to see em go..

the stomach was the last one to go sadly.. didnt reject but after a year and a half of not healing it had gotten a tad too annoying. oh well.

part of what's cool about it is the pain though.

i know this isn't directed at me but it seems like the answer is pretty obvious.....

the same reason one would get a tattoo or piercing.....the final result?

well yea, i had some work done on myself but he was talkin bout the pain not being kool and going into shock. i wouldn't want to go into shock. you know what i mean? scarification is awesome and is addicting, and the end result is fucking awesome. i had some pretty kool tribal type stuff done on my left hand and it means alot to me. but i wouldn't do anything that would send me into shock!!! LOL :)

    I've done some myself, actually.

I regret all but one, though.

I drew (with razors) hearts over my legs; only one remains to this day.

One scarred REALLY badly and another one faded. I lost track of all the ones but the one on my ankle.

I say fuck that and get an actual tattoo...

i have a star on my ankle, cut in and then burned. it stayed for a while. You can see it still if you know where to look. its more a personal thing, so noone has seen it but i think it would be really hard for them to see. Its been 5 years, and still there though, long time!
