Hello everybody! I know this has been posted before, but hows abouts a newer version? What are some of the scariest games you've played, and why are they the scariest? My favorite Scary Game by Far: Amnesia The Dark Decent In Amnesia, you play a man named Daniel. You wake up in a castle with no memory of what happened (due to drinking Amnesia potion), and you have to go around the castle finding clues to uncover your dark history... Wait, there's a catch: you have no weapons, just a lantern and your wits! The darker it is, the more insane you go, and therefore the more you hallucinate. This isn't good because you don't know what's real and what isn't. The lighter it is, the easier it is for enemies to see you, and therefore hunt you out! It is a great game to play by yourself, truly a mental rollercoaster of fear, drama and puzzles. One of the most interesting, and well-thought out games... Ever (in my opinion). What's on your scary games list?
Amnesia is a great one. I only played the demo but I should really just fork out for the game. I hadn't been freaked out like that in a long time.
Check out the game L.S.D. (no not the drug) its an old play station game that's about dreams. It even has a cult following, it won't sound scary, but watch some gameplay on YouTube, I've never been so scared of a game before, yet it's so addicting!!
Have you ever heard of Slenderman? If you have, you should play Slender Game. It's free, and you can download it to your pc. This game actually scared me, I couldn't go into the bathroom without the door open for like a week.
I need to check that out! The scariest game I have played would have to be this one demo I played years ago. Its in first person, and the earth gets invaded by aliens, and everyones abducted. And it just goes from there. Quite intense.
Hmmm, come up with the name yet? lol. A good 3RD person alien-themed horror game is Dead Space and Dead Space 2. It's based on a modern space ship, and you're only a mechanical worker dude. All you have access to is your tools, and you mostly do tasks alone, with very little actual contact with the other characters. It definitely creates a very scary futuristic vibe that isn't too cheesy. The normal aliens are body-infesting crab-like things (that look like they're from the THING, but upright) and there are other bosses and instant-kill points that you have to be on your toes for. Sort of like Resident Evil, but with aliens (although not directly comparable). Would recommend that game as well. Interested in checking out this game about dreams Dark Lotus, will do later.
Amnesia and Penumbra trilogy. Amnesia is kinda the one went mainstream but they made already great job in these three games. The Stairwell (I strongly recommend you playing it first before watching any videos from it) http://games.softpedia.com/get/Freeware-Games/The-Stairwell.shtml Slenderman Which Marines campaign in AVP2
Resident Evil 2 was the first video game I played that was scary and I have yet to play one since that has scared me like that. I recall playing at night, going through one of the initial hallways in the building you enter and running past a boarded up window when out of nowhere all these hands grabbed me, I jumped out of seat and it was a revelation that video games could create the same intense feeling as movies. There were a couple other jumpy parts but also the still camera angle, which was actually not great in terms of gameplay, added an element to the scariness as enemies could be just out of view and several rooms had a deadend ambiance.
