Can anyone suggest a movie, or movies, that would scare the absolute piss out of me? A friend and I have been on a mission to find something that makes us what to stay up all night for fear of nightmares, but we just can't find anything to truely scare us!!!

    Help me!!

would you like to be disturbed by a movie? meaning a movie that stays with you days after?

    Jacobs ladder
    Saw
    naked lunch
    requim for a dream

they might not all be horror but they all had a huge impact on me, any movie can scare I don't think thats clever its disturbing thats the clever bit.
if you just want to be scared rent a slasher movie if thats your thing I'll give you a list of the good ones of those

Damn, I have seen all of those - and I do agree that they are all disturbing in one way or another!

and yes I am looking for the 'stays with you for days' type thing - slashers just really don't do it for me!!

Having said that you might be interested to know that in my opinion the scariest movie ever was Gremlins - I still can't watch it!!!

The Exorcism of Emily Rose was pretty disturbing. One scene in particular.

The Haunting (1956. Its what you dont see that gets to you, hope you dont hear a lot of unexplainable noises in your home)
High Tension (Unrated Directors Cut. Brutal and intense, I loved it!)
The Exorcist (It's a classic, crucifix scene?)
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (76? The documentary style and grainy feel makes it a classic and disturbing IMO)
Audition (The last 1/2 of that movie makes a hard left turn that I didnt expect, that movie is still stuck in my head)
Ju On (Original Japanese version of The Grudge, worked more for me than the American re-make)
Premonition (Another Japanese film that I dig)

What's not scary, of course, are the freddy movies... but I did find after one of our horrorfests (marathon of horror movies) that watching all of them in a row will fuck with you a little lol oh yes, and I agree with whoever said the Exorcist, that's the ONE horror movie that's actually really scared me - the rest usually make me laugh. Although, if you can find it, try Madhouse... it's a little bit messed up, I enjoyed it.

Ichi the Killer isnt horror but its damn disturbing.
I Spit on your Grave is a great exploitation flick.

But if your able to find August Underground, watch it, if you can sit through 10 minutes of it, watch the rest, if you squirm in 10 minutes turn it off dont waste your time.
