Salutations stoners. I happen to be in the process of saving for car. (It's about time ive been walking and riding a bike around town for what seems like forever.) Anyways, i was wondering if anyone had any advice on ways to come up with some extra cash, or just advice on how to manage your money. I know i probably shouldnt be asking abunch of stoners. lol But i figured its worth a shot. Thanks.
do you have a job? if you do save at least half of every check and dont spend as much money on things you dont need.
^agreed. you need a job. thats about all there is to it. after a summer of working, you should be able to save up between 2000-4000 for a car and insurance (insurance will run you between 150-350 a month for your own car)
Sell your body. Body parts, too. Be like... "Me love you long time, and give you kidney for 25 grand."
No i do not have a job. And its almost impossible to get one in my area because of all the kida competing, and the fact that most buisness's drug test.
Do you get regular paycheques? The only way that I can mindfully put money into savings is setting up a Savings account with ING Direct. No service charges, highest interest rates, etc. So, each paycheque that comes in, I have it all electronically set up to withdraw a certain amount off my paycheque and deposit it into a Savings Account that has a higher interest rate than any other bank. So, I'm making a couple bucks here and there even when I just put my money into my ING account. Then I budget and live off the rest of my money from my paycheque. It helps me to manage my finances and life off of a more strict cash flow. The lawn maintenance season is picking up. You could always offer to cut grass, to haul tree branches, to roll lawns, etc.
Yeah, I used to get money for drugs by doing yardwork gigs that I found off of Craigslist. You could start a dogwalking service, which is pretty straightforward, you could make bank. Charge a base of $10/hour for one dog, then ad $3 or $5 per hour for each additional dog. I've heard of people starting at $20/hour base, but that was in San Francisco. Well, there is my constructive reply...
Yeah I'd say when you deposit your check just take how much you think you'll need for the week and don't touch the rest.
Saving money is hard. I'm saving up for a car myself. It's going to take me a few months. Make a budget for yourself. It'll help with figuring out how much excess cash you'll have for savings.
Thanks everyone. Your advice has helped. Im going to look for a job today so ill let yall know how it goes.
I was going to save up for a car but then I found a 1987 Porsche 944 turbo, fully working just need s battery replacing, 20,000 miles and its only going to cost me €1200 which I can afford already. On top of that insurance will only cost me €387.
