Stop consuming mind altering drugs. Pot contains 4 times the amount of toxins as Tobacco, 1 gram of pot is equivalent to smoking an entire pack of cigarettes. Not to mention the long term effects doing mind altering drugs has on your body. It also leads to harsher drugs being more likely to be used, over 90% of people addicted to hard drugs did pot first. You people should join the army and get some sense into you instead of wasting your life away.

The "Marijuana is a Gateway Drug" argument is one of the biggest drug myths out there. A gateway drug is NOTHING more than the first drug you do. Pot is NOT more of a gateway drug than any other "mind altering substance", It is just more widely and easily available, so people are more likely to use it than they would another, less omnipotent drug. If crack was the most popular/easily obtainable illegal drug in this Country, doubtless it would be considered the exclusive gateway drug.
And it is for these reasons that your statistic is worthless. That statistic is a favorite of health teachers and other naysayers because it is quite easy to misinterpret. You sees "marijuana" "90%" and "move on to harder drugs" in the same sentence and it is not hard to jump to the conclusion that 90% of marijuana users will move on to harder drugs.

alcohol is by far more of a gateway drug than marijuana! how many people do you know that smoked marijuana for the first time because they were drunk? probably more than will admit it.


how many gateways to un-planned pregnancy have been opened with alcohol? I think it's safe to say that it's far more than with cannabis.

WRONG. That 4 to 1 "stat" is about tar content, not toxins AND it's a misleading figure. Marijuana LEAVES do in fact have about 4 times as much tar as tobacco leaves however, no one who smokes marijuana smokes the leaves. We smoke the buds which actually contain about 30% less tar than tobacco. In addition to that many people smoke a pack of cigarettes a day whereas VERY VERY few marijuana smokers smoke 20 joints in one day. That would be unreal.

I feel bad for people who simply quote things they read without researching them in more depth.

Okay, where to begin? First off, you spelled soldier wrong, second the only thing that realy makes pot bad for you is the carcinogens you get from smoking it, which are the same as what you would get from cigarettes, cigarettes however also contain actual poison such as nicotine, one drop of which into your blooodstream would be deadly, can the same be said of thc? 1 gram of pot equivalent to a pack of cigarettes??
That is just complete BS, and either way neither is as bad as that gram of crack you probably just smoked before posting this. 90% of hard drug addicts smoked pot first... This may be true, however it is fairly irrelevant, what might be more relevant would be the percentage of people who smoke pot that also do hard drugs.
