Worship who you want as long as you obey the law, as they say. But I'm still confused by LaVeyan Satanism though. If you want an imaginary image to worship, try the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Or if want more of an image of pleasure, try Pan or Bacchus.

Of course I am even more confused by theistic satanists. They think they really are all going to hell for worshipping like that. THEN WHY *DO* IT, LOL?!

"Satanism is merely Ayn Rand's philosophy with ritual and ceremony added."

I worship the Sun, without which there would be no life and we wouldn't exist.

My God is real, affects my life everyday, usually in a good way, tho my skin may beg to differ thanks to worshipping a little too much.

The Sun asks nothing of me, yet brings me joy, warmth, light and food! A true giving God.

Why worship something imaginary that you will never encounter ever while alive at least?

And if the imaginary did exist as something more than your projection, do you really think something so infinitely powerful would give a shit about you???

Btw, Pan worship is what Christians sought to eliminate by transforming a God of pleasure into the embodiment of pure evil, Satan, hence their puritanical views of sex.

They don't think they think they're going to hell. The LaVeyan Satanists don't really believe in Satan at all, but go thru the motions to get attention and fellowship, dance naked in the woods, and express their rebeliousness and opposition to the dominant Abrahamic religions. It gives them a feeling of being special? In college, we had our campus Satanist, who gave interviews to the local student paper and displayed his inverted pentagram. In effect, they formally worship power, wealth, status and sensual self-indulgence--the prevailing false gods of our nation. The theistic Satanists actually think their side is going to win. We have a similar Zoroastrian variant right here in Oklahoma: the Dakhma of Angra Mainyu, which purports to worship the ancient Persian version of th Evil One. How esoteric can you get? !! And then there's the Temple of Set which worships the ancient Egyptian one! One upsmanship! People are weird! Evil has its admirers.

As for the FSM, Pastafarianism is mainly celebrated on the website of Prophet Bobby Henderson, and is entirely satirical. Satanists may like to take themselves more seriously.

I have no issue with them. Perhaps it would be better to ask practitioners what they believe, to get a better perspective. Besides, they do good activist work, and they don't seem to be dogmatic, which is good. While they do have their own problematic people at least they don't pay lip service while trying to beat people over the head.

Also, I might as well share. There was this guy in the late 80s who was hunting satanists, satanists allegedly guilty of child sacrifice and crimes like that. But everywhere he want he said. No, this isn't about LaVeyan satanism. Most LaVeyan satanists are quite law-abiding. In fact LaVeyan satanism founder Anton Szandor LaVey said at the time he didn't recommend his followers used illegal drugs, for example. It was illegal, and you didn't know what you were getting. The drug dealers might slip something toxic into your drugs, he said. It's ironic because in the late 80s just being a satanist, or even not being a Christian or believing in God, was a big deal. Now, who cares as they say.
