i cant stand sandstorm, i dont get why everyone loves this track. its pretty bland, predictable, and way overplayed.
Its really more about the "atmosphere" of the track, and the thing that really strikes people about it is the way that the progression build up. Yes, the song is repetative, but its about the subtle changes in what the artist does at different times. The song is really supposed to envelop you in a particular atmosphere, and the fact that it does that while still remaining popular (like Top 40 popular) proves that it is an effective song.
it may be "effective" but so was Britney spears. Sandstorm is only great so i have time to sit and rest for 15 minutes. Honestly all dance songs are about the atmosphere and subtle changes within a repetitive beat. Popularity is not an argument for quality
yeah, thats what i'm kinda saying: all dance songs are about being built around a repetative pulse, but i mean that the way sandstom does it is what makes it so great. and what i'm further saying is that sandstorm must have done something pretty good considering that no other instrumental track has even appeared on Billboard Top 40 other than Sandstorm. and don't get me wrong, i'm not like an insane Sandstorm fan, i'm just pointing out "look what Sandstorm has done" and saying that it does deserve some recognition, you know what i mean?
im just saying i dont think popularity, especially in the one hit wonder category, is a measerment for quality or greatness. I agree that darude found a very catchy formula that the average person finds a little different from the mainstream pop music scene and thats why it has its place in many more highschool dances to come. However, I feel that fans of this song should look deeper into the genre to find real quality tracks and then more often than not i believe they will tend to agree with me. Of course it is a catchy track and of course there is absolutly nothing wrong with people enjoying it. I just think that its just like a lot of things that are popular, played out and pretty bland.
apache miserlou this movie theme that i can't remember titled summer of 42 or something sandstorm is the bomb like smoking crack is the bomb. it's cool but when it's over you feel dirty.
oh wait, i miscredited it: it was the last instrumental track in 10 years to place on Billboard Top 40.
I didn't even know this was a real song lol. I thought it was just a bunch of computer noises... Oh wait it is..
