If one were to do a boiling preparation (such as http://www.erowid.org/plants/cacti/cacti_preparation5.shtml), how long would one be able to keep the resulting cactus juice/tea around before consuming? Will it start to lose potency if not consumed immediately? Is a week allright? Should it be refrigerated or is it allright to keep in the back of a closet?

    Thanks,
    Alex

Im wondering this as well. I brewed a small dosage of it and have kept it for about a week in my closet in a closed jar. It hasnt grown any visible mold, but there are bits of white shit floating in it, which could easily be cactus matter, but you never know.

store it in the fridge- wouldnt leave it longer than 1-2 weeks, or better yet the freezer, where it should keep for months.

Yeah keeping plant matter preparations is asking for infection. It will get infected eventually, or start to rot. It doesn't matter if it's sealed. I had stored Amanita 'tea' in a sealed container for a week and it was rotting when I opened it back up.

Freeze it or refrigerate it for a few days, but keeping it for a week in room temperature will almost certainly be a waste of material.
