So I ate a 13 inch san pedro cutting that was pretty beefy, I've done this 3 times now. First time I made cactus juice, this had the most effect by far. Second time I powedered the whole catus minus the spines, this had the least effect Third time (today) I sliced off the skin and the inner white core and just ate the softest part of it by frying it in some oil and garlic, then dicing it up in little pieces and basically swallowing it. This was the easiest consumption method by far cause I didn't have to taste it at all. But this was still significantly weaker than the first time with cactus juice. Now what I'm wondering is, how do I consume san pedro to get some stronger effect? Or do I just need more than 12 inches? Cause I'm thinking the reason the juice had the most effect was it digested the fasted. There is just so much mass in eating it powdered and fried that the mass to mescaline ratio I think quite literally just absorbs to slowly to bring out any pronounced effect. By pronounced effect I mean clear visuals, I still have not got clear visuals from cactus, just subtle glimpses at what I think it might be, but never very clear. In fact, I have a little bit of HPPD from lsd and shrooms that in meditation I can get pronounced visuals with, geometric shapes, figures and stuff. But on the cactus today I found it actually lessened this HPPD and it was even harder to see things in just meditation. I really just don't know what to think of this. I do know the body high and sensation well though, which is easily one of my favorites of any drug. Now what I'm curious about is, first how do I eat this san pedro to get some real effect from it? I was thinking maybe I need to make the juice, then evaporate the juice, then grind the juice up and capsule it? That would make the smallest amount of mass quickly. And second, the nature of the cactus effect. Is it just me or does cactus feel really really normal. Like cactus always feels exactly how I think I'm supposed to feel naturally. I am native american by descent so I am pretty damn sure my family line goes through the peyote rituals, which is what I've been attributing to the reason why cactus feels so normal to me. And not just familiar, shrooms and LSD have familiar feeling, cactus feels NORMAL, like I said it actually seemed to lessen the HPPD, put me back into my state of mind and being that I feel I'm supposed to be in. Does anyone feel this way? Maybe this is also why I can't get much effect from it, maybe my blood has natural tolerance to mescaline from being native american. And another, the personality of the cactus seems like a grandparent almost. Like shrooms in personality feel like alice in wunderland and the madhatter to me. LSD just feels electrically hippe. But mescaline just feels like a grandparent, wise, patient, watching, there to help however I want it to. The other thing is, I'm wondering what exactly the nature of the cacti visuals are. In meditation, focusing hard enough I did get some glimpses at the nature of cactus visuals and they really reminded me of this painting in how they felt http://mauraholdenartworks.com/images/990_12_tiffs_002.jpg Highly subtle in intracacy, very organic, very mellow and calm. Is this what they are like? I really feel determined now to get strong visuals, cause it's just been dissapointing each time now.
What a post! Okay, lets start with the dose and visuals question. 13 inches can be a little small. You say it was beefy, but mescaline content can vary greatly from one cactus to another. So, you may want to up it to 16 inches or so. As you experienced, tea is one of the better ways of eating Pedro. It is liquid, so you don't have to digest the cactus to the point of releasing mescaline. Having to digest it, like you speculated, slows the onset and lessens the effects. As for visuals: everyone experiences visuals differently. Some people can take 5 grams of mushrooms and get no visuals, while another person can take a gram and watch the walls melt. Some people simply get different levels of visuals from different drugs. You may be a person who doesn't get many visuals from mescaline. Of course, it also could be a dose related problem. 16 or even 18 inches will answer the question. Now, I've never done a full dose of Mescaline, but I have three theories here. First, this could be a psychological thing. You are Native American and relate with this substance on a personal level. I am not suggesting anything physiological here...rather, your subconscious. The subconscious can have a huge influence on the psychedelic experience. Second, Mescaline is known to be a very "clear", "lucid" substance. I've read reports of people feeling more "at home" with Mescaline. This may contribute to the feeling of normalcy you get when on Mescaline. Third, you are probably taking a low dose. Like I said before, try upping the dose. Might make a difference in how normal you feel. Put all three of those theories together, and feeling normal on Mescaline seems pretty damn plausible. I don't think this is biologically reasonable. I think there are two factors that make you feel this way. First and foremost, lets go back to the subconscious. Whether you realize it or not (and I suspect you do), you have tons of subconscious ideas of what these substances are like. Shrooms have kind of a "crazy" trippy reputation. LSD is widely associated with hippies on the 60s, the acid tests, and comes on bright, festive, colorful blotter. Mescaline is often associated with Shamans, healers, Native Americans, and nature. Even more so for you considering you identify strongly with Amerindians. These subconscious associations present themselves strongly when you trip! I bet if you had never heard of mescaline, peyote, or San Pedro, and someone dosed you, the trip would feel a bit different. Second, mescaline DOES have a nice natural, "teacher" feel to it. It's the nature of the mescaline experience! I hope this helped answer your questions, and I hope you are able to find the visuals you seek. Try a higher dose, of tea, and I think you might be satisfied. Peace, and happy journeys =0)
This is simple. Up the dose, Up the effects. 13 inches will for the most part make you feel warm center of the world smiley face, with some sense enhancement; colors richer, etc. Swim finds that this scale is reasonably useful when considering dosage: Mescaline is in the phenylethylamine class. It is an empathogenic hallucinogen. Dosage: 1 ft cutting = 1 button or 1 hit of acid. 1ft = Entry level psychedelic. Good for a mellow trip. Nothing spectacular. If you plan on dealing with people in everyday life, this is a good hit. Good for mellow day tripping 2ft = Verge of the psychedelic experience. Good for concert, club going, or hard partying. Handling yourself in respectable public will be difficult. Good for strong day trip 3ft = Gateway to the Psychedelic experience. This is a good amount to take if you plan on doing some shamanic work psychedically. I would recommend doing this during the evening due to the vision inducing that will be taking place. DonÕt forget the Sacred Herb. 4ft = Shamanic Experience. At this level you will be meeting Mescalito! 5ft = Full Blown Psychedelic Experience. At this level you will lose your Ego! Swim has done about 3 feet at one time. Hallucinations are very lucid, namely you are looking hard right at them and they dont go away or change; swim saw a painting on the wall animate, the picture of elk walking in a river next to a bank of grass were actually walking against a moving river, while the grass on the bank waved in the wind, etc. Swim also recommends an IPA extraction. By increasing the dosage you will offset the loss of potency; One foot of cactus= 6 AA capsules of extract tar. 3 feet of cactus=18 capsules. See below for earlier post on hipforums (reprinted from someone elses post made last year) : ALCOHOL EXTRACTION I recently started trying out an alcohol extraction method, not being ballsy enough for the A/B extraction, and thought I'd share the 'technique' (if you can call it that) that I finally came up with after several wasteful attempts. About halfway through making the stuff (I did several batches), I ran out of funds (i'm a college student) and had to improvise a bit, so there are better/more obvious and easier ways and materials to accomplish some of the steps here. What you need: -pedro/peruvian torch of some quantity, dried and powdered. -91%-99% isopropyl alchohol (you can use grain alcohol, everclear etc., but it gets to be VERY VERY expensive - you use quite a bit of alcohol. using isopropyl only means you need to be very thorough with the evaporation) -Glass jars (I used 1 quart mason jars - I will use twice this size next time, but they got the job done) -Fairly large glass baking pan (pyrex) -Turkey baster -razor blade -wax paper What you do: 1. Weigh out some quantity of powder and put it into one of the glass jars. If you are using quart jars like I did, 300 grams of powder is about the limit. You need room to add enough alcohol to make it liquidy and keep unmaneagable clumps from forming on the bottom that refuse to mix when you shake the jar. 2. Pour enough alcohol into the jar to make a soup. Seal the jar. Let it sit for a bit and then give it a shake and turn it upside down. If a bunch of powder is clumping on the bottom and won't mix even with vigorous shaking then you need more alcohol. 3. Let the jar sit for a day or two, shaking it at least 5 times per 24 hours. The more shaking the better. 4. Open it up and add fresh alcohol, as much as you put in the first time (however much it took to make it adequately soupy) 5. Let the jar sit for a day, shaking all the while 6. Add more fresh alcohol 7. Repeat this process, halfing the amount of time in between adding alcohol, until the jar is nearly full. 8. Let the jar sit an hour or so until the dark liquid has significantly separated from the powder on the bottom. 9. Using the turkey baster, suck out the dark liquid and put it in another clean jar. You want to get as much liquid out without sucking up solid matter. This can be difficult and just takes some practice. 10. Repeat steps 2->9. You'll notice the liquid that separates start to get clearer. Once the separated liquid is fairly transparent (looking like yellowish-green tinted water) you're pretty much done. You can continue adding more alcohol, shaking and sucking, but I'm guessing gains are minimal at this point. Optionally you can strain the powder at the end with a coffee filter, but this can be messy, and we've already gotten the good stuff with only losing yield in the baster and whatever was too difficult to suck out of the jars. Every little bit helps though. 11. Pour the dark liquid in to the baking pan and PUT IT OUTSIDE to evaporate. I did this in my room with a fan and two open windows and the smell of alcohol was still overpowering, not to mention that I likely killed off a billion brain cells. 12. When the amount of liquid left is fairly low, smell the pan. You shouldn't be able to smell any alcohol, which means (I guess) that the liquid left is predominantly water. You can bring the pan in now and set a fan on it which will help it evaporate faster, especially if its cold and humid where you live Ultimately you're left with some black tar-like gunk that's sticky as hell. You should keep the fan on this stuff for at LEAST a day or two. 13. Using the razor blade, scrape the gunk off the bottom and put it on the wax paper. I found wax paper to be the only surface the tarish gunk doesn't stick on too badly. This stuff can be seriously sticky and it starts to come off all oily on your hands after you've held it for just a few seconds. I read somewhere that adding some baking powder to it can help, but I haven't tried this. My first batch was much less sticky than my most recent, and I think it had to do with my messing up at first and having good amount of the original powder in the pan, so maybe putting some powder in to the final mix is a good idea. That's it. Now weigh the black shit and divide like so: starting weight of powder/black shit weight. That gives you extremely roughly how many grams of powder are in each gram of the tar. It's going to be less than that number, of course, but that's about the best and easiest estimate. In one of my batches, I put in 100 grams of powder and came out with 24 grams of tar, so each gram of tar represented about 4 grams of powder. You have some options now on how to consume it. I was broke by this point so I used a school account and bought some herbal supplements in capsules, emptied them out, and put the tar in them. About a gram per capsule, which worked out nicely. I was taking 5-10 capsules and tripping my face off, so so so much more than when I tried making the boiled-down soup and with little nausea to boot. Anyways, I hope this is helpful for someone. Remember to evaporate thoroughly, the only uncertain/potentially dangerous aspect of this project is the isopropyl alcohol. Ê
Make some mescaline citrate. Take 1/2 dose, then 1-2 hour(s) later, eat a shroom. You should feel okay.
