Sorry for the long post, but any help is appreciated SWIM decided to try San Pedro and just received it in the mail a few days ago. One of SWIM's friends said he wants to try it with him so he's going to have to have to order another cutting. Hopefully it will be around the same size. SWIM had me do some research for him before he does it just to help him out a little. I think I've got my facts straight for the most part, but correct me if I'm wrong on anything. SWIM has a 14.4 inch cutting that is about 4 inches in diameter. Although, it slightly changes shape and back from top to bottom and varies between 3.5 inches and 4. Apparently, fresh San Pedro varies from 0.02% to 0.14%, and dried San Pedro varies from 0.3% to 2% I did the math for him to see just about how much Mescaline he's looking at. Here's what I came up with: Pre-Cut (Entire cutting) Fresh San Pedro 3.6 Pounds 57.6 Ounces 1612.8 Grams Dry San Pedro 4.8 Ounces 134.4 Grams Post-Cut (After removing the peel and core) Fresh San Pedro 2.7 Pounds 43.2 Ounces 1209.6 Grams (Anywhere from 242mg to 1693mg) Dry San Pedro 3.6 Ounces 100.8 Grams (Anywhere from 302mg to 2016mg) Aside from the peel which contains no Mescaline, the core does contain some. However, it is a low amount. Knowing that, the Mescaline amount is probably slightly higher for the Pre-Cut, though I didn't calculate it. Frankly, I don't know how and I don't think it's worth going through the trouble of finding out lol. I gave this information to SWIM and he's now wondering with method would be most efficient in potency, so this is where I'm asking your opinions. Preferably someone who has experience with them. There were three methods I found that seemed the best to me; opinion-wise and from other's experiences. These method's include: 1) San Pedro Preparation 5 by M.J. Shroomer, on Erowid (Tea boiled with fresh, chopped cactus) 2) Tea from dry, chopped cactus (Taken from someone on another forum): " My method was to boil the dried chunks in a lot of water for three hours with a splash of lemon juice. After straining the chunks off I used some old clean cloth and squeezed as much juice [although frankly mucus is a better word] from the chunks into the broth which I reduced down to a little under a pint. " 3) Post-cut cactus powder by mixing it in a few shots of water and lemon juice, stirring fast, and downing them one by one, each followed by a chaser. At this point it's just kind of hard to tell which one would be most efficient. I'm kinda thinking either number 2 or 3. The only reason I included number 1 is because it seemed like a good step-by-step guide and because it got alot of good reviews. However, I can't understand why someone would prefer tea made with fresh cactus over tea made with dried cactus? Dried cactus has higher amounts of Mescaline...yet many people say that if you're making tea, to go with the fresh? As far as tea goes in general, I don't know if it's true but I read somewhere that you lose a little Mescaline in the process. So in that case, straight powder might seem like the best method. Nausea plays a big role as well though, and I'm not sure which methods might worse, so I greatly appreciate any feedback with experiences or knowledge on the subject. I apologize again for the long post...I just want to make sure SWIM has as much fun as they can Edit: I probably should have mentioned that no matter the method, he is obviously not going to eat the entire cutting at once because the potency is unknown. However, he does have a considerable amount of experience with Acid and Mushrooms along with some other shit here and there, so he's confident with a relatively large dose. Not too big, but not threshold either. He's hoping to shoot for around 300mg, possibly a little more.
dude don't make it confusing on yourself just use around a foot or more if you wish blend it, and add minimal water once you start boiling (if needed) and keep on low boil for about five hours and drink
