Aright, I've never tried shrooms. However, I've tried using Salvia Divinorum and enjoyed it. Here's my Salvia experience, can you guys help me figure out if the trips between SAlvia and shrooms share any similarities, and yes I know, the effects of shrooms last much longer. Here's my Salvia story. Alright, about a month ago I first began experimenting with Salvia Divinorum. I bought a little container of 5X Extract Purple Sticky Salvia from a Local Head shop. Late one Saturday night I tried it out. I got out my Water Bong and Torch Lighter and took a pinch of the Salvia from the container and stuffed it in my bong. I took a first hit and noticed no difference so I quickly took another hit making sure to hold it in as long as possible. Nothing had happened still so I took my third hit, I don’t remember exhaling the smoke from this hit, the last thing I remembered was taking in the smoke, looking at my wall, which at this point was spinning, quickly putting away the bong, lighter and salvia, and sitting down on my couch. Everywhere I looked was spinning and beginning to become distorted, it’s very hard to describe. My arms looked like they were growing as they spun over my head, and everywhere I looked was spinning. However, I was not getting dizzy. It was a very pleasant experience; I wasn’t scared at all because I knew I was tripping hard. When things weren’t spinning as quick I got up and walked to my bed, as I walked I noticed it felt like walking through wet sand at a beach, like my feet were very heavy and sinking into the floor. I felt a bit off balance, like I was leaning to the side but that was only because everything was still slowly spinning, and still distorting a bit. So, a laid down in my bed, I felt great, very euphoric. I laid down and I noticed the wall paper began to glow, and then stop glowing and start up again, by this time the spinning and distortion had stopped taking place. I heard a Police Siren go by somewhere nearby, the sound trailed for a long time, though I knew the car had travelled too far to still be audible, the sound was just repeating itself in my head. By now the effects were diminishing, I noticed how sweaty I had become, and looked at my hand that still had little bits of Salvia Extract on them. All in all, it was a good trip for my first time using Salvia Divinorum. Here is a Picture I made from Photoshop to Help you Guys Get a Better Idea of What I'm talking about.
Salvia and shrooms aren't much alike. Shrooms certainly won't be as intense as salvia (at least not in the same way). Euphoria(/dysphoria) are pretty standard with shrooms, so that might be a little similar. They're pretty subjective experiences, and I'm not any kind of mushroom or salvia guru, so I'll let someone explain better. Although, Erowid or a similar website is your best bet.
They are both different plants that give you different effects. To me I like Salvia more because it doesnt last to long. For me because of the short trip i can write down what i saw and keep going back and try to learn more about myself or the world. because I can remember mostly the whole trip. I get mine at SalviaMaster
salvia is nothing compared to shrooms, shrooms are a 4 hour bliss trip while salvia is 15 mins of crazy hallucinations. ive tried salvia a few times and would never do it again, i find its not recreational.
imo, as i've stated time and again, the "recreational" aspects of certain psychedelics are certainly enjoyable, but far from the main event. i've had far more meaningful and beautiful experiences with salvia than with mushrooms. that said, salvia can be quite a lot more unpleasant with more regularity. for me salvia is not the more spiritual and meaningful of the two, but has more potential within the realm of "normal" doses. the brevity of the experience is its only downside in some respects, and it's great merit in others. it is a downside in that the intensely short period in which the experience takes place does not allow for one to come to grips with their new reality easily. you are propelled faster than the speed of light into a totally foreign and bizarre existance with little to no warning - even seasoned psychonauts will find the salvia experience difficult to adjust to and understand. after one has gotten their feet wet and begins to slightly understand their new surroundings, on some infantile and primal level, one is immediately forced, often uncomfortably, back into their normal, corporeal existance with almost the same rapidity as that with which they left it. as a merit, the brevity of the experience is a safety belt in certain regards. the salvia experience can be far more intense than mushrooms and is typically (for me) far more alien, surreal, and abstract. while this can be more conducive to spiritual experiences, so to may it make it that much more disconcerting to the unprepared - which is nearly everybody. a salvia trip, no matter how terrifying, is sure to be over very soon. when somebody handles a mushroom trip poorly, they are stuck with it for several hours rather than several minutes. further, the brevity of experience is worthwhile in that it totally and utterly destroys normal empirical existance for only a few moments, but does so with such totality that when you are forced back into your body you feel shaken, not stirred. you regain your ego, begin to recognize familiar surroundings, but still have thoughts such as "what is this? is it real? where am i?" the pieces fit back together easily, but slowly. it is easier to have a fully psychedelic dose of salvia extract than of mushrooms, as mushrooms are even more variable in potency and effect. you can take an eighth of mushrooms and two hours later when you realize that it wasn't enough, its essentially too late to take more, and the experience may be minimal and unimpressive. i feel that both have tremendous potential for spiritual, psychological, and social breakthroughs, but that both have their time and place. both are very good at derailing worldviews and the paradigms within which we operate during waking hours, they are both good at destroying our social programming. yet both have downsides, and not everyone handles the experiences well. i find it difficult to compare the worth of the two or the qualities of the two because it is like comparing a rocket ship to a covered wagon. the both serve the same basic function, yet both give you a very different ride and very different perspectives. specifically to the OP: if you want to gain insight into the bizarre worlds reachable through salvia extract, i recommend trying it again but using different methods. the bong is neither detrimental nor important, and the torch lighter is, despite common claims to the contrary, merely a convention among salvia users and totally unnecessary. try this: first smoke enough cannabis to get good and high. i rarely smoke salvia without some other at least mildly psychedelic substance already in play. i find it gives me a launching point, makes it more comfortable and easier to leave corporeal existence and gain entry into totally different planes of existence. it gives you a leg up. next, dim the lights to extremely low, nearly nonexistant. your environment will ONLY distract you from the potential of the substance, and being in touch with your surroundings may prevent breakthrough. since you only have 5x, use a generous pinch and put it in whatever type of pipe you care to use. bongs work fine, but i find inhaling that much smoke so quickly irritating to the respiratory system, and it makes me more prone to coughing. the key to salvia smoking is to hold in your hits as long as you possibly can. a good 30 seconds at least. take the biggest, coolest hit you can and hold it. keep holding it. hold it..........okay, NOW exhale. lay down flat on your back in a bed or couch or whatever, and close your eyes. physical sensations are noticed first. for me, this takes the form of energy coursing through my body, pulsing, originating around the solar plexus and moving outward. for me its not uncommon to feel as if i'm stretching or growing in both directions, as if my arms and head are growing into tree branches and my legs and feet are growing into roots, but almost in a circular manner, as if the two will meet and grow together. simultaneously my mental faculties make a dramatic shift next, closed eye visuals take center stage as my thoughts become stranger and more unusual still. patterning, colors, etc. are the norm. often they are mandala-like, round, rotating images. by now, it should be 2-3 minutes into the trip. if youve taken enough, it moves beyond this into totally different, alien, bizarre realities which are very often unpredictable. examples from my experience: i've gone to a spacial void, visited by a goddess of pure cosmic energy which healed a sick loved one. another time, i was pulled behind the scenes to witness a vast, infinite staircase not unlike jacob's ladder from the bible, with angels travelling up and down it. another time (20x), MY existance WAS that of a sentient physical object only arguably alive, a biomechanical item with no known purpose which was constantly unfolding and changing, but felt physically like mattress material at parts, with a distinct intelligence present but not seen, with a feeling of being at some sort of supernatural/extraterrestrial science fair, as if my behavior was being monitored and judged in this new body. these experiences run the gamut from beautiful and awe-inspiring to downright terrifying. it has a lot to do with dosage in many cases, so tread lightly and move further in steps rather than going in over your head too quickly. i often find a subpsychedelic dose followed immediately by the full dose once the first wears off to be easier to handle. since its only 5x, you aren't likely to go so far into nonexistance that you'll freak out, but still exercise caution. this experience of moving from visions to totally different forms of existance completely alien to human beings begins at the second or third minute and lasts perhaps 5-7 minutes itself. then the alien reality falls apart rather quickly, and you find yourself forcefully placed back into your reality, often uncomfortably. getting your bearings and relieving from the peripheral effects may take a further 3-5 minutes. all things considered, it usually lasts around 10-15 minutes before you're back to baseline. understanding and integrating the experience may take days or may take years. i have not smoked DMT, but the description of the salvia experience, as i generally experience it, bears close resemblance to descriptions i've read of doing so. as i haven't the frame of reference to make authoritative remarks regarding similarities or differences between the two substances, i am tempted to assert that they are only superficially similar. tryptamines for me generally carry a sense of homecoming and nature, despite how alien and unusual they may be, but salvia bears none of these characteristics on a regular basis. it will NEVER cuddle with you - its either heaven or hell, but never anything between, never earthly or earth-like pleasures.
no i wasn't, and that was posted several days ago anyway (and i wasn't then, either, assuming spinning is some sort of drug slang i'm not familiar with) also, i've made much longer posts than that before
