Hey guys. I tried salvia for the first time a few days ago from a friend and really enjoyed the experience. Little did I know that it's illegal to have in FL. My question is: does anyone know a good salvia alternative? I know there are many entheogenic plants out there--some are psychedelic and hallucinatory in nature, others make you feel kinda high or buzzed (like I've heard about K2). I'm not looking for those types of plants, only a salvia alternative that is legal in FL and may produce similar effects. Thanks!
Why do you say that? I'm generally interested in learning more about entheogenic plants and their uses after having experienced salvia. I'm not trying to break the law or anything; I know salvia's illegal in my state and I'm looking for information on alternatives. There's obviously a psychedelic section of this board a reason and I don't think I'm making 'drug post.'
There are no alternatives to Salvia. A true salvia experience is unlike any other substance, Ketamine is probably about the closest I can think of or one of the DMT's. If you can get ahold of some 5 meo Dmt that's about as close as you'll get with something that's 'legal.'
Yeah, there is no "legal bud" alternative to Salvia... nothing exists that produces similar effects. It's interesting that you really enjoyed the experience. I'm assuming you didn't have a breakthrough. Salvia is, for the most part, not something to be "enjoyed"... Not to come of as presumptuous, but maybe it's for the best that you can't get it where you are and you should just leave your experience at that. Next time might not be so enjoyable. But hell, who am I to say, maybe you enjoy having your reality swept out from under your feet and replaced with a new one, and having your psyche ripped into a million pieces and taken from you against your will and plugged into inanimate aspects of some inter-dimensional time fabric weaving... Crazy kids and their Salvia...
I don't generally like other psychedelics for that reason--having my reality ripped into a million pieces--and I generally stay away from from because they last 6 to 8 hours. But the salvia experience I had, while indeed ripping away from reality, was enjoyable and profound. The fact that it lasted only 15 minutes and that I knew it would only last so long was part of the reason I wanted to try it again. I've that ibogo (Tabernanthe iboga) is similar to salvia in its dissociative effects. Anyone know anything about this particular plant?
I don't know much about it, but I do know that Ibogaine lasts a lot longer than Salvia... I'm glad you had a good experience.. Salvia can be down right frightening sometimes and when you break through, you're in such a state that the fact you just took a drug 5 seconds ago does not compute... you don't see or hear the world around you, just the one in which you're submerged. There is no concept of time. Might be 15 minutes on the outside, but it feels like you're being hurled through lifetimes... Here's my recent Salvia TR if you're interested: http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=400125&f=124
Yah a salvia breakthrough rips you away from reality harder than the majority of psychedelics. You won't realize that you are only going to be on a 5-15 minute trip on a breakthrough or that even a drug was consumed at all. Iboga is a stimulant at low doses and hallucinogenic at higher doses, i have no experience with it but I don't think it's very similar to salvia, also it's illegal in the U.S.
Yeah that's basically how it happened to me. I took a hit, held it in as long as I could, exhaled and for about 10 seconds nothing happened. Then my whole world changed--colors were much more intense, my thought pattern changed (though I'm unsure as to how specifically), my whole body felt like it was being pulled in different directions, all sorts of things were happening. Then it was over and I was like "wtf? just happened?" And then I remembered I took a hit of the salvia and said "ah ha, ok. Like I had forgotten." I didn't use a water pipe, just a regular bowl, and it was 20X, but I would say that the experience was entirely different than LSD (which I tried and hated--the visuals were amazing but the mindset it put me in made me extremely depressed and existence-questioning.) More research as revealed that Amanita Muscaria extract (in apparently a resin form [that's supposed to be smoked?]) is similar to salvia as well. Any experiences with that?
I picked abunch of amanita muscaria last summer and tried them. Not much of anything to report since I didn't really get any effects. I took them twice, first 10 grams dried and second 20 grams dried.
Hmm..interesting. I've read that one the main psychoactive ingredients in amanita is muscimol and the hallucinogenic effect is most closely comparable to the hallucinogenic side effects produced by some other GABAergic drugs such as zolpidem, which is interesting because the "color distortions/intensity" I mentioned from the salvia was almost exactly like what I've experienced from ambien (zolpidem), but to a much greater degree.
Datura stramonium L. - Jimson Weed Family - Solanaceae Stems - No info. yet. Leaves - No info. yet. ... Calyx. Stamens and style. Fruit. Flowering - May - October. Habitat - Pastures, barnyards, fields, waste ground, cultivated areas, roadsides, railroads. Origin - Native to tropical America. Other info. - This toxic species can be found scattered throughout most of Missouri. It is easily identified by its glabrous, purple stems, toothed leaves, and spiked fruits. Datura stramonium is packed with tropane alkaloids. These alkaloids are autonomic nervous system blocking agents. Apparently, the level of alkaloids in individual plants varies from day to day depending on environmental conditions and stages of plant development. This can lead to problems for people who use the plant as a narcotic as higher levels of these alkaloids can cause death instead of the intended "trip."
Not in my book...nuttin like Salvia. Just plain incredible. And I actually like that it dont last to long to. God only knows where I would wind up. Gotcha. I just realized that Salvia is legal in Georgia and I'm about 30 minutes from the GA border, but unfortunately I haven't been able to find a place close to the border that sells it.
