When the NY tour came to town I was in the exhibit for hours. His work is amazing. He LOVED working with LSD. His work is so awe-inspiring. He did a lot of it so that from far off you'd get a different picture (of course) and usually sometimes the polar oppisite of what was intended through the picture.
Salvador Dali's art is amazing. he was a hippy before his time. he just saw things that other people didn't see.
His works blow my mind, they're so amazing. I think the Hallucinogenic Toreador is my favourite piece of art ever.
nope.. "Every morning when I wake up, I experience an exquisite joy - the joy of being Salvador Dalí - and I ask myself in rapture: What wonderful things this Salvador Dalí is going to accomplish today?" - Salvador Felipe Jacinto Dalí Ego maniac...
the guy was insane, to be honest he was completely full of himself.. but then you only have to read about his life to know this.. and maybe why he was the way he was. its also hard to get to the real truths of the way he was... i think he went out of his way to be the weirdest man around and all i can say is his art truely achieved this. now personally.. i think its all very well saying you love him for his surrealworks.. but its just text book to love it.. i think theres a whole deeper appreciation you can get for him and his work if you dig a lot deeper into thim..he's a fascinating character for me because i liked to see what made him the way he was.. for instance... his brother died exactly a year before he was born and his family told him he was his brothers re-encarnation.. i mean how warped would that make you.. being not who you are, thinking almost you have some higher power.. like you were some higher being almost.. which reflected on his way through life.. he tired and sometimes suceeded in killing people.. (whether the deatsh were a spin of lies who knows) but.. when you begin to understand his life.. his paintings take on something much more.. and sometimes makes you dislike his work.. its all very well saying yeah he's cool.. but why?
yes i love him.. his work is amazing.. This painting is my favorite!! He says that he drew that right when he woke up from a dream.. He said that that picture was the last picture he saw before he woke up.
30 miles from where I'm at in St Petersburg, Florida is the Salvador Dali museum. Sounds like a trip! There's an old Jackie Gleason recording with a cover designed by the artist! Wild and amazing paintings! Anyone nearby who would like to check out the museum with me some time give a yell! It would truly be an amazing experience to see the actual canvas he worked with after seeing different reproductions over the years in books and such.
Had the pleasure of visiting where he lived in northern Spain. the terrain is very other worldly there, its easy to see where he got a lot of his inspiration. Not my absolute favorite artist, but definitely an innovator who did amazing work and lived a life as art. The pic that Shaba posted reminds me of one called "Impressions of Africa" that I had, same colors, looks really similar.
