Sadhguru does emphasize that it is narrow identifications which breed conflict and violence.

Blossoming from a narrow identity to a universal identity seems imperative for the human being to transcend violence and regressive conflicts and seems to be a genuinely natural process or phenomena which unfortunately most people are ignorant of .

Imo, this is what Buddhahood or Self-realizaiton in eastern religious philosophy is all about.

There are different "facets" of my identity that frankly are not all congruent with each other.

Much of my life is in stark contrast. For example, a week ago I went to Tiffany & Co. jewelry store (it's famous and expensive... "Breakfast at Tiffany's" I think is a movie, but I think its title is about the jewelry store; maybe a misconception).

I went to the one in Beverly Hills, CA, despite there being a closer by store; mostly because I have trust that I will enjoy the experience with less friction. And the reason this is an example is because if ever there is occasion to go to Beverly Hills, I adjust my behavior to fit the context/environment.

This is not the same as the way I act at the gym, or in the kitchen of my parents' home.

    --------
I used to have an issue with racism. There had been racist leaning influence in my group of drug-using friends, and I left. But I carried with me a list of opinions long and faulty. It is this type of intolerance that I have divested from, but indeed conflict was very much a part of my personality as a result. I had internalized so many misleading or surface oriented/shallow/ill-informed beliefs or social norms which were really just prejudiced and superficial.

When finally I decided that it was time to form a new set of opinions, it meant letting go and becoming more rooted in deeper, more broad, and universal "identifications".

I think about this in terms of "conceal carry" permits, gun owndership, and martial arts. Jiu jitsu is a great example.

If we have these tools at our disposal, it becomes imperative to understand what they are for, and when it is appropriate to use them.

i'm rather fond of the option of not sitting that close to anyone.
and avoiding entertainments that romantacize an advasorial perspective.
