    Since the Pledge of Allegiance

    and

    The Lord's Prayer

    are not allowed in most
    public schools anymore

because the word "God" is mentioned....

    a kid in
Arizona wrote the attachedNEW School prayer.

    I liked it....

Now I sit me down in school

Where praying is against the rule

For this great nation under God

Finds mention of Him very odd.

If Scripture now the class recites,

It violates the Bill of Rights.

And anytime my head I bow

    Becomes a Federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple, orange or green,

    That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.

The law is specific, the law is precise.

Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

For praying in a public hall

Might offend someone with no faith at all.

In silence alone we must meditate,

God's name is prohibited by the state.

We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,

And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.

They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.

To quote the Good Book makes me liable.

    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,

And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.

It's "inappropriate" to teach right from wrong,

We're taught that such "judgments" do not belong.

    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

We can get our condoms and birth controls,

Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.

But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,

No word of God must reach this crowd.

It's scary here I must confess,

When chaos reigns the school's a mess.

So, Lord, this silent plea I make:

Should I be shot; My soul please take!

    Amen

"I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands- one nation indivisible-with liberty and justice for all."

After the Lord's Prayer, we should say a Buddhist prayer, and after that a Hindu prayer, and after that a Bah'i prayer, and after that a Voodoo prayer, and after that a Muslim prayer, and after that a Satanist prayer, and after that a Zorostarian prayer, and after that a Sikh prayer, and after that a Scientologist prayer, and after that a Jewish prayer, and after that a Maori prayer, and after that a Shinto prayer, and after that a Toaist prayer, and after that, we go home, because it's three 'o clock, and all we did in school was pray to different dieties, and not actually learn anythin.

Gospel of Matthew chapter 6, verses 5-6,

When thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

"Go ahead and hate your neighbor, go ahead and cheat a friend. If you do it in the name of Heaven, you can justify it in the end."- Verse from the song "One Tin Soldier". Naw, I didn't copy yer post, the pastor at our church quoted it, and I google'd it.

How may one who professes to be of Faith wish to compel the presence of God into the lives of others?

Has the Lord chosen to force Faith upon all? Has not God wished upon man the capacity of thought and decision?

Others will take the path that the Lord see fit; it is not for you to pass laws of man compelling a single road among the probabilities of the flow.

Oh, no. It's a song we sing sometimes. The church part; I was reffering to the "Do not pray in public" verse from the bible. Actually, the part I posted was only a little of the song, here are the entire lyrics:

    One Tin Soldier

Listen children to a story that was written long ago
'Bout a kingdom on a mountain, and the valley folk below
On the mountain was a treasure buried deep beneath a stone
And the valley people swore they'd have it for their very own.

    (Chorus)
Go ahead and hate your neighbor, go ahead and cheat a friend
Do it in the name of heaven, justify it in the end
There won't be any trumpets blowing, come the judgment day
On the bloody morning after - one tin soldier rides away.

So the people of the valley sent a message up the hill
Asking for the buried treasure, tons of gold for which they'd kill
Came an answer from the kingdom: "With our brothers we will share
All the secrets of our mountain, all the riches buried there.

    Chorus
Now the valley cried with anger, mount your horses, draw your sword!
And they killed the mountain people, so they won their just reward
Now they stood beside the treasure on the mountain dark and red
Turned the stone and looked beneath it -
"Peace on Earth" was all it said.

    Chorus

When will Christians stop being singled out and persecuted? When O when will they finally be allowed to make the rest of us pretend we worship their god?

Seriously now, are people going to be punished for saying the Pledge of Indoctrination and including the words "Under God" by their own decision? If not, I'm not sure what the complaint is.

The difference between praying to the "Christian God" and other gods is that the other gods are false. You're doing more harm to EVERYONE who isn't allowed to pray or told that the Bible is false.
As for not being allowed to pray to a hindu god, Allah, whoever else, what's the point? Those gods don't exist. It's idolatry plain and simple.

Uhhh... sure Tom. I am glad you were here to clear that up. What makes you think your God is any more or less made up? You seem very sure of yourself... as if you've never considered any possibility except the one you were handed.

PS: I think you need an idol to practice idolatry. Praying is praying and God has many names.

I've considered many false religions. I was a devout athiest for a very long time. Studied everything from Islam to the tarot and Christianity is the only one that truely adds up.
As for the guy who made the remark about the led pipe, well...never mind. Just look at you.

tom, if you were a lebanese christian, you would be praying to allah, and worshipping his only son issa, and revering his mother maryam...

"allah" just means "the one god" in arabic...
& speaking & worshipping in arabic does not require one to be muslim...

    ~

& as to "true" & "false" myths, well, that is for you & your co-religionists to work out, eh?

    ~

Nothing to work out. That was already done a few thousands years ago.

well, imho ;) _all_ myths (including the christian myths) have within them a truth deeper than mere facts...

but insisting that the stuff in "the book" is the only source of truth (and that all other scriptures are repositories of untruth) just ain't gonna make it (for me, at least)

    ymmv...
