I've heard that this is the best way to run, and believe it or not, it puts less strain on your feet. (than a running shoe, although I've tried some very good minimalist running shoes) So, do you run or workout barefoot?
Yea, outdoor running, specifically. I've done yoga barefoot and some isolated movements in bare feet, like squats, lunges, core work. But, not outdoor running.
Around fields, on coast paths, beaches... Rarely come across them where I live but forest trails when I am where they are.
If anyone saw me running down the road barefoot, they would probably book me a place on the funny farm. PS, Jane went running with the dog yesterday morning and ended up in hospital.
Okay, great! So when you first started this, did you get any blisters? I’ve read that it’s the best way to strengthen our feet for endurance running.
Thank you for your concerns, fortunately it looked a lot worse than it was. She tripped on a manhole cover in the park and landed face down on a concrete wall. The minor fractures to her jaw and cheekbone require no medical intervention but the bruising, especially around her eyes makes her look as is she has just completed makeup for a zombie film. All made worse by a serious nose bleed. Needless to say, she does not want to go out or to work until the bruising fades.
i usually have shoes on to workout, but not always. i hate running, but when i was a kid training for sports i always preferred to run barefoot.
No I never got blisters. Umm.. Actually occasionally I'll step on something hard that causes one of those.. "blood blisters" under the skin. But I never find it that painful. Just ignore and heal. I think running barefoot helps develop better running form, also, which lessens other injuries. The more padded a shoe is, the worse it is for your knees, because the body is looking for stability (so I read). So yeah, thinner soled shoes definitely better for when shoes are necessary : )
I started running recently and I can recommend to do it barefooted. Ok, my feet are quite tough because I'm usually walking barefoot, so if you are a beginner, you should start with short distances.
I run barefoot , doing it for quite a while, paved path or stadium , run smooth with no pain knees or back. If it gets colder or soggy I have minimalist sandals on
