Do you think that routine circumcision is a good thing or a bad thing and would you have your sons circumcised?

I don't really like the practice because I don't see a need for it. It's mostly a cosmetic issue and it's surgery which always carries risk. On the other hand there are some advantages such as it being slightly easier to keep clean and offering a slightly lower chance of getting HIV. Plus, living in America that's just how things are.

    Horrible.

I wish I wasn't circumcised; my son will not be.

I feel like the "safest" would be to leave the kid uncut. On the other hand you risk them thinking "I wish I were cut because. . . " but I don't want to do it now that I'm an adult.

I think that cutting off a section of penis is horrible. Plus there are occasional botched circumcisions. Its not super common, but could you imagine if you or your son ended up with a fucked up tip or lack of sensation because the doctor slipped or it healed wrong?! Bad shit, man. If the kid feels bad because he's uncircumcised then he can always get it done later in life.

i just found this when i searched about circumcision deaths:

Each year in the United States more than 100 newborn baby boys die as a result of circumcision and circumcision complications. This is the alarming conclusion of a study, published in the journal Thymos, which examined hospital discharge and mortality statistics in order to answer two questions: (1) How many baby boys dies as a result of circumcision in the neonatal period (within 28 days of birth)? (2) Why are so few of these deaths officially recorded as due to circumcision?
The study, by researcher Dan Bollinger, concluded that approximately 117 neonatal deaths due directly or indirectly to circumcision occur annually in the United States, or one out of every 77 male neonatal deaths. This compares with 44 neonatal deaths from suffocation, 8 in automobile accidents and 115 from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome

It's rarely done over here and I've never seen a circumcised one in the flesh. Foreskins are fun. I just can't fathom why anyone would do that. It's a religious thing that's become crazily out of control.

People often have such strong opinions on the issue. I respect both sides. Although as a Physician, when asked my opinion, I am in favor of circumcision, and my son is circumcised.

I'll let the mom make the final decision but I am against it..unless there is a medical issue that necessitates it I see it as a stupid practice.

edited OP into poll since this is poll section

Me too, but that's not worth sacrificing sensitivity, control, and hygiene.

I don't think it looks better at all. I think what you're used to will make a big difference. So as more people are left alone, more will find an unchanged penis attractive.

    exactly

why is it all of a sudden a problem in the last few generations to leave things the way they been since the beginning of time...just because one generation was told its better doesnt mean it is...its turned into a "well his father is so he should be too" type of thing..

Well from a female perspective I greatly prefer men to be circumcised. To me it looks a lot better and Is easier to keep clean, I always wonder what that hood could be hiding. And I have never had a guy complain about being circumcised or any issues with sensation or control.

Typically guys that are circumcised wouldn't know about how much better their sensitivity or control could be if they weren't circumcised, because, they are circumcised...

It's not like every man reads up on such things.

on that same note I'd say it's pretty damn presumptuous for a non-circumcised male to assume that a circumcised one has less sensitivity or control...

maybe the brain adapts to heighten the sensation of what was lost

    or maybe it doesn't

and don't use the argument that there are examples of older men who said they noticed a difference...you can't compare an adult/teen circumcision to a near birth one

a good example of how humans adapt is anyone that knows a blind person knows they cannot sneak up on them no matter how quiet they try to be lol
